Air Suspension, WE ARE GETTING SOMEWERE |
|
Had a idea, sometime ago in 4x4 Aust mag was an article in aftermarket air suspension, just had to find the mag. Found it " May 2006"
So phoned them and explained the whole lot, He has a contact in USA who works for LR, Generally he has no problem hooking up his manual system but neend the info on isolating the air susp. comp. from the main comp.
He was somewhat already on the problem but did not realy know how much demand there would be.
So stay tuned , next week he wil contact me with more info.
YOU LITTLE BEAUTY
Rob
Oh yes he is just down the road, 25 mins away

Well done Rob. I would think just about everyone who ventures off road will have an interest.
Cheers.

It's not just the compressor - you also need some form of activation for the shuttle valves to allow air into the suspension - and keep it there, if the supsension controller shuts down the compressor, it also shuts down the shuttle valves

We will see what he comes up with. He has a system that is complete [ it is for retro fit to convert coil sprung to air, I guess it will just use his controles to deal with the D3 compressor and air bags. He is finding a way to get around the computors.

Small update; Suspension Technology Aust got back to me today, they are working on it, and are reasonably conferdent but it may take a wile. the hardware side is ok, they have a problem with the computor, they think its posible to overcome this obsticle and have some good leads on it.

Rather than ditching the air control system... |
|
which is already installed, has anyone looked at totally insulating the sensor connectors? For example, placing them in a ziplock bag and then filling that with a "space invader" style expanding foam. The closed cell foam would work better than lanolin, etc.
Just thinking out loud.
Seems a waste to replace or supplement the system which already works ok - except when sensor connectors go south.
Cheers,
Rob.

Good point for reliability keeping the standard system, but I would like to have complete controle over suspension hight without the computor butting in.

Chris & myself are working on a plug-in box that will delay the speed lowering from offroad height by 10mph
it'll be made available worldwide
Current estimates for production release are 7-8 weeks

That's great 10forcash.
Is there a particular reason for limiting to +10mph? In Oz we'd probably run comfortably at around 80kph on high crown dirt tracks in a high clearance 4WD, so that's probably the ideal, but certainly an extra 16kph will be helpful. Look forward to hearing more.
Cheers.
