Yeah ive badged it as a HST
All the others are known as Discovery Phantoms but i think LR should make a HST version of the D3/D4 with the TDV8

It was an expensive car to look at just sat in the workshop so we had to get on with it and re-chassis her again

Could you not just put a private plate on it if it is a long term project?MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone
Tow bar, full length roof bars, side steps, tow bar storage unit, surround camers.
D4 camera club
All the others are known as Discovery Phantoms but i think LR should make a HST version of the D3/D4 with the TDV8
According to other threads it either won't fit or it's a marketing thing so they won't do it. However with your undoubted skills and facilities you could be the first to get a TDV8 in a D3
You'd have to change your name though!

Yes if the car stays on its 06 Plate i can put a private reg on it
If it went onto a Q its stuck with it...
I bought a new chassis from land rover to save any other issue's regarding registration
I have 2 x D3 chassis's now if anyone is interested...I might keep one for a TDV8 Project
Its going to be a long term car so the cost of the chassis just had to be swallowed...I wasnt getting that far to strip it for parts i had to see this project through
Matt - an amazing job indeed! - Can you give us an indication of what the new chassis alone cost?, and what you think the total ex labour cost was for the whole deal? (perhaps excluding the extra bling items) - will give us all an idea of what the downside is of a rebuild as Disco3's get older & potentially owners look at 3rd party only insurance (personally I'd always want fully comp!)

To repair the D3 to a totally standard spec it would have cost under £10k (including buying the car)
With all the bling, colour coding, new parts, cambelts, oils etc. and a new chassis it stands me at a bit over £15k (including buying the car)
A new chassis is around the £2,200+VAT mark from LR and i wish i had gone this way from the beginning
I havnt got the invoice infront of me to give you the exact figure for it
I have changed parts like the steering wheel & gearknob and other parts which i have picked up along the way like brembo brakes and roof rails etc. things which i didnt need but wanted have made my budget stretch
Also buying two sets of 22" wheels just because i couldnt decide which set i liked didnt help
