WDS 13 Patch 1 Update removes the Pre Heater and Pre Cooler
I got my Disco 3 updated to software version 13 and:
IT removed the PreHeater and the Pre Cooler function!
Has I used these radio trick I`m demanding it reinstalled or LR has to
pay for an Webesto programmer!
I use the preheater function everyday, since it`s about -15C in Norway.
It also added an i with a arrow pointing to the right in the infocenter!
Finally my aircondition press heat on the top wents not just on my feet!

The question on everybodys lips is has it improved the overall reliability of the software! Whilst the pre-heater has been a hot potato (pardon pun), the more general trend for cars to be laid up with silly electronic bugs and glitches has been more of an issue and concern to more recent aquirers of Discovery 3.
It will be good to hear that it improved things in other areas, but the pre-heater issue will ruffle some feathers I'm sure.
I have not used the pre-heater for some time now, I got a new coat instead . It does make me realise that in the UK at least, it is not as big an issue as it first appeared to be.

WDS 13 Patch 1 does provide Discovery 3 revised Instrument Pack Software - which does change to settings menu as described above.
Be aware of this if you like the pre-heat/cool settings hack, and don't want to lose it.

Is that all it does to the instrument pack, or are their other mods too?

On my 06 HSE an i appearing in the infocentre means that something needs attention.
Push the LH stalk to get a message describing the problem. In my case it was a reminder that the washer bottle needed topping up.
Top up the bottle and no i
Are you saying that the i is on all the time with no purpose ?

Older software version did not throw up the "i" - the update deals with that, and it sounds like your probably have that version already installed in your car.

mines in today for some minor niggle stuff so software is supposed to be updated. Not worried about the pre heat / cool timer at all - car warms up plenty fast for me and the heated seats are a bonus.

i had s/w 13 loaded on my 06 HSE to fix heater issues and since then i have had 3 instances of transmission/park brake/gear selector issues when cold (-2) at stat up resolved by stop/start routine. its back in today for the repalcement steering column link (to remove knocking) and for a review of this s/w given that i have now found the suspension fault reference in another thread which i have passed on to my dealer...oh by the way, i got a D3 SE loaner for the day FOC so no complaints there.TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue and still smiling

Guys
I'm writing from Italy. There is a solution the patch that remove the pre heater webasto. In fact is possible to install the sw 13, and with the agreement of the land rover seller to use the sw that they have and active again the function. The problem is that the sellers have not the code number to enter in the engineering function. If there is this code, is possible to load sw 13, to attach the pc for the diagnostic control, enter in the engineering mode, code and re-active the webasto. Unfortunately I have not this code. If someone find it, I can test! bye davide

Getting confirmation on Friday of what disk was used on my car WDS 13 or WDS 13 patch 1. Also which updates were uploaded. Dealer usually does all of them as a matter of course.
I still have the Pre Heat / Cool menu.
I have noticed the engine is far smoother - especially 1st to 2nd changes with no drop off of revs like before. Am still assessing this and will be in stop start traffic today... should be far smoother with luck.
Heater seems to be more efficient.
Keep you posted

Just got my car back from having a 45,000 mile service. It has had the latest software installed. The auto gearbox now changes up before I feel it should, I presume that the memory in the box has been wiped and it will adapt to my style of driving again in time. Also the steering seems heaver at slow speeds. I will check on the points above later today to see what else has been done.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
