Nice one Simon
I suppose the 3v2 version has the same outcome as what the original v3 was meant to do?

not sure... all I know is the disk used was WDS 13 v5 so maybe it just has all the patches up to 3 on it.
Who really knows apart from LR eh ?

Oh and even the misses said... wow the car feels faster
After driving it around country B roads and the A49 today... she does feel far better (the D3 not the wife), far smoother and far more responsive. Pulls like you'd expect it to with no lazyness at all.
Much harder to catch it out now and find it struggle before it pulls.
Maybe this could be applied to wife v2 and upgrade her to wife 2.5

Just a dumb question: is there a way to check the exact version and patch level of the installed WDS software?!

Not unless you have access to a system running WDS and the interface required for the D3... sorry
Mind you, your dealer should know the last version they uploaded.

As a newbie, can somebody advise me of LR policy on updating the software. My car is two weeks old. Can I ask for my the dealer to upgrade to WDS 13 v5 on the basis that if LR have seen fit to issue an update, it should be installed in my car, or do I have to wait for a problem to arise which necessitates a software upgrade? Dealer usually only upgrades if :
a) The customer complains of a specific issue and there is a sw fix
b) The sw is recommended by LR to be upgraded next time the car is in
c) A good dealer will do this as a matter of course when you bring your car in
d) A good dealer would slot you in - takes around 1hr to do all the updates, clear error logs, download the old versions first etc.
I would not not worry too much unless you have a specific issue with your D3.

I will collect my TDV6 HSE thu afternoon or fri morning Been at the dealer to sign insurance etc and specifically asked for the patch installed on my car. The service guy was "badly surprised" that I knew the existence of v13p5, they have v13p3 (maybe v13p3.2, he didn't even know about a re-release of p3). So my car will have v13p3. He also assured me that they routinely re-flash the entire system and don't do partial updates (for compatibility reasons), so it will take "at least two hours". And asked me to let him know further details about p5, sticking to the idea that I somehow broke into an internal mailing list of LR dealers and technicians

Thank you Simon. The only fault I have at the moment is a frozen radio. The dealer said that they tried a software fix but it didn't work and they now need to speak to LR. It is now booked in for a full day next week so hopefully V5 will be loaded then. TDV6 Base 7 Seater Auto, Vienna Green
