The "i" only appears if you've had the message centre updated, but not the suspension ECU from memory.
Winger, I have the Auto S, I have noticed in "i" appearing in Commandshift mode, but dont recall it always being there. There is a small arrow pointing to the right, alongside it, but never displays anything. I wondered if it was trying to tell me something, something bad? Couldn't find anything in the manual 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

It's telling you it has a message for you! Cycle through the message centre screens to see what it is. Only if the i is permanently displayed do you have the software mismatch The End

Now I see that the symbol is the same as the one on the end of the stalk So it really is talking to me, it wants me to press the stalk, beats conversing in bong language. Cant wait to get the car back tomorrow from warranty work to find out what the message is - hope they haven't erased her message. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Glad I read to the end of this long thread. In my case the "i" was a low washer fluid" message. Would have been embarrassing to have told the dealer to fix the i because of that!

Just had the patch which resulted in the 'i' permenantly on display. took it back to the dealer with a printout from disco3 and the technician said 'I didn't know that', turns out he's had the i on his D3 as well. Sorted Now.
One thing though, since the upgrade I get 6 chimes when I insert the key. My dealer says this is normal but it never happened before? Does any one know if this is correct?
The tech was very interested in the website.

No - not if the door is shut.

The door's shut, insert key and turn and while the 'system check' is displayed on the dash the car chimes 6 times.
Looks like another trip back to dealer. I just can't understand what they (the dealers) expect to acheive. If they don't know why don't they just say so?

No way - this is what i am worried about. I Mentioned in another thread that I would love to get the software upgrades done b4 I get re-mapped, but I don't want to lose the pre heater - especially having used it for the first time in yesterday!
Is this defo now - upgrade the software and lose the pre heat option?

Read a couple of notes from members claiming to have retained the function post upgrade? Whats that about?
Also read a couple from members going back to dealer post upgrade to complain about losing it - anyone had any feedback on that?

This was covered extensively 18 months ago, the upshot is that it is not supposed to be there, the update will remove it. AFAIK it is an automated process.
It is no good hoping that LR will fix it and release a fix to make it work. Take my word that there is no chance of it becoming a standard feature before the 2009 model year.
Search my early posts.
