I suspect that it really depends upon who your dealer is and what relationship you have with them.
The update in question is that to the message/information centre module. If that is left as is, nothing will be altered.
The problem faced now is that the diagnostic software checks all modules for software revision levels, and updates as required (unless specifically instructed by the person running the diagnostic programme not to).
It isn't impossible, but you'll need to take the risk, rely on the quality of your service manager and his tech team.
One upgraded it cannot be downgraded again.......unless you've got the original software version............

ok thanks guys - no "dealer relationship" yet. Not confident with dealer supplier - probably looking like a conversation with Taunton LR...
Appreciate the info - apologies its old news to you and a repeat question, but they are all new gadgets to me, and gadgets are good (when they work).
There is a hell of a lot of stuff on this site to read !!
