To save all the hassle of sitting in a cold vehicle, I preinstall all the persona apps, setup phone and Wi-fi and delete most of the bloatware.Personal touches really. It’s a good opportunity to check that everything works before pulling the car apart.

How do you hook it up before installing in the car?
Is it just power or any other connections.
Which pins do you connect?Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

In the photo below on the right hand side there are three wires close together, yellow black and red.
Black is ground, red is positive (live, switched ignition Acc), yellow is permanent live.
I soldered extra connections to these wires.Apply 12v positive to red and yellow, and negative to black and the unit will power on.After installation I have left a permanent live connection to yellow. It only draws 7 milliamps in this state which I believe is acceptable and boots up in less than 10 seconds.

I am the original purchaser from RRS who had the problems with the unit .
From memory the problems were
No Audio from phone incoming or outgoing or Satnav
Unit when hot was bootlooping
No Satnav mixing
Very bad microphone
I got a few updates which fixed some issues.
Installed a USB mic which solved the bad microphone
Update for overheating
The main problem was that the Internal speaker was wired into the wrong socket along with a bad update that was trying to push all Phone/satnav instructions via it.
So basically they told me to swap the wires over on the harness and it worked but then satnav only came out of the little speaker . They then sent me an update for it to Mix correctly out of car speakers when music is in use.
The nice thing about this unit now is just say im listening to OEM radio , I can still get satnav instructions via the little speaker.
It does seem to all be working OK, and i use it daily for spotify and 4g radio.
Hopefully they have now solved these issues for new customers
You have any images/videos of this installed and working? How do you access/use the factory system and change between android? Anything of carplay in action? I mainly just want carplay and a better display and will use the factory setup for everything else not carplay.
I've been trying to find something that's android 9/10 to put in the factory location and get a better screen. Else is Naviplus but they hardware is so old/slow now.

Does anyone know how this screen apply to the S-model with the basic radio? Are there functions not working, missing etc.? It seems otherwise like really nice mod and upgrade for the S-model to get navigation.
