Do you need an Android phone as well or does the unit have a sim card slot?
Parked outside my home I connect to my own Wi-fi, I can also tether to my phone Wi-fi. I am using an iPhone 7.

How customisable is the display? ie can you keep the NAV on one half and the phone or audio on another half? That would be great.

I can’t say yes or no yet, I haven’t had enough time to experiment. But if you’re into android rooting it’s definitely possible.

I did not have any instructions,it seems self evident to me what had to be done. I believe the supplier can provide a pdf which would need to be translated using google translate. It is not a difficult job.

Another company on AliExpress makes D3/RRS1 displays... absolutely no idea how they work. Someone please buy one and let the rest of us know?

For the D3, this one looks niftier and has android 10 on it. The people having bought it seem to be happy according to reviews. Some of the translations to engrish are pretty funny.
Made me think whether I want to upgrade mine or not.....
Edit: seems to ship from Poland (so no customs to worry about) and isn’t terribly expensive, either.

My only concern, and I'm not sure it is very valid, is the Discovery 4 version is based on a PX3 (4 core - 2G/32Gb) Android system with older Android (7?) and is slower than others which are available for other cars based on the PX6 (6 core - 4Gb/64Gb) Android (version 10 or above). The PX6 versions also have CarPlay built into them, rather than using a CarPlay dongle.
If I could find a PX6 version for the Discovery 4 I'd buy it now, as I've looked at loads of reviews/videos and although not the latest graphics/design compared to a lot of new multimedia interfaces, is a MASSIVE improvement on D3/D4.
I'm also considering/looking for an upgrade kit/core board from PX3 module to PX5 or PX6, but not found PX6 yet and also seen problems with losing Bluetooth/wifi when upgrading.
Hmmmmmmmm, would love to order today..... but just not sure on above.RLD CB Bracket

Before I purchased my kit I asked the supplier to confirm the spec. After installation I ran an app to check and everything was as stated.
On start up it shows the boot screen..below
Boot time is about 25 seconds, but it you select reverse it will show camera straight away and radio also starts within a few second. I find that acceptable. After boot up anything you want to do onscreen is instant.
I also discovered it’s already rooted, I will be able to customize the layout etc

Could you do me a big favour and show me screenshot of the MCU version (looking for MTCD MTCE type thing) and if you can find it the Bluetooth chip version. You may have difficulty finding that as you have to go into the advanced information and enter a password to get it.
The reason for asking is that potentially if the MCU and Bluetooth chip are of certain variety the upgrade path to PX5 or PX6 could be very straight forward if I find the speed a little lagging. The difference between the PX3 and PX6 is like night and day, well over twice as fast.
Cheers Andy, really appreciate this, I'm just on the edge of hitting buy RLD CB Bracket
