How to find engineering part#, i.e. for LR043493 |
|
How/where to find engineering part numbers?
For example I need to get LR043493, but this number is never directly on the camera and instead if might be a variation of (AH22-19H222-AF - not even sure if this is matching number to the LR043493). Got another hit that it could be also AH22-19H422-AF. Obviously these two numbers are close but mean different part.
Where to check to have 100% certainty?
Long story short - spoke with car scrapers and they are happy to find one for me, but need to know how to identify one. The brand new is way to expensive.
Thanks in advance.

Normally the part in the middle xxxx-19H222-xx is the callout number on the parts catalogue:
e.g. http://new.lrcat.com/#!/12728/53806/54882/4365/54890
You can sometimes find the engineering number from a Google images search or eBay search of the LRxxxxxx part number 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Images check is what I did but it was more as hacking my way around instead of a proper process.
I'd foresee something more around like VIN based or better year search/catalogue with references to part numbers or the other way around - basically cross-linked data.
The best site what I came up with is:
https://allbrit.de/select.cfm?CAR=TLY&...PAGE=41904
Though even this one shows a bit confusing details as for 19H222 can be any other type of camera too.
I guess the more exact match for version part is the AH22-xxxxxx-AF (not sure with part, have a feeling that more the AF is version as there are other manufacturers using other codes instead of AH22, i.e. EH22).
Giving 19H222 to scrapers won't help me getting exact LR043493 which I'm after.
Any other ideas?

The online version of microcat displays the engineering number.
When I’m in the office in the morning I’ll look it up for you

For info, AH is a code for the year that part was introduced. A being the 2010MY, B 2011MY, C 2012MY etc. The middle number is the call out number and is common to nearly all models with an equivalent. The last 2 letters are variations and revisions, i.e. on a touch screen an AA suffix is the first iteration of the Non Dual View screen. The BA version is the first iteration of the Dual View screen. The BB is the second iteration of the Dual View screen.
So your original camera part number could be superseded to a new part ending in AG and this will work. If your replacing the camera with new, even with a like for like, you will get a DTC for camera calibration. It should still work and you can ignore it as for calibration you need SDD or similar.

Great info Steve - could I bother you to find out the engineering code for LR052996 (D4 upper tailgate loom) - I don't have access to the online version of Microcat.
A lot of breakers have items listed by their engineering code only and this info would be very helpful to positively id a part. Jim

The EH part number is for a 2014 harness so the harness spec was changed in 2014. I know this to be at minimum, a different camera harness. The 2014 on has a different system so won’t fit a 2010 to 14 car.

Yes, that is correct.
From what I've learnt sometime in 2014 a six pin can bus camera is fitted, so when retrofitting a camera to a later 2014 and onwards vehicle the tailgate handle also has to be changed as the camera has a different footprint and won't fit into the existing handle. Also both the upper and lower tailgate looms are required as well. Jim

You can dismantle the old handle and fit the outer shell of it to your new handle. Jim

I think it was late Aug/early sept 2013 for the intro of MY14. I retro fitted the complete 2014 surround camera system as I fitted the 2014MY mirrors.

You are probably right in your dates.
I'm having difficulty in tracking down an upper tailgate loom and I don't fancy forking out for one from a dealer but I was wondering that if the connectors were available it shouldn't be very difficult to add the additional wires that are needed to my existing loom.
Any thoughts. Jim
