To my mind the 'All New Defender' - if and when it appears, maybe the true replacement for the D4 - if the latest road test photos are anything to go by - looks while at least.
Probably not going to be a hit with the true farmer types and those that need to unbolt and replace stuff on the go.
The 'D5' has not been a hit with D4 owners from what I've read ..... it seems to be an 'insert' model between the Range Rover, Epuke thingys and a FF - so many 'lookalikes' and nothing especially striking - although I have admired a dark grey RRS today! - but soo expensive..
The LR range is just too cluttered IMO..... I think the Discovery will be dropped after the release of the Defender.2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

The 2lt D5 doesn’t suffer oil dilution, the 3lt is susceptible, but nothing apparently onerous.
Generally I find a lot of die hard D3/4 owners are merely reciting a lot of scare stories with little substance.
Mighty Mildred seemed pretty cheesed off with 2 services in 6,000 miles beyond the other niggles, I don't think you can say her comments are without substance. I'd be pretty pee'd off if a car I rely on for work that was sold having a 2 year service schedule or 20,000 miles had to be off the road for services twice in 6,000 miles.
The design issues are neither here nor there, they are personal choice as is if you like the drive, but engine issues certainly are.
BTW my car is over 500Kgs lighter than my D4 was, it doesn't bang or crash over pot holes, has a 2 year 20,000 mile service schedule, doesn't have transmission noise but does has a fantastic V8 burble DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I know what your saying, I presume it’s a 3lt, I suppose we all talk in generalities and there’s going to be the odd exception. If the oil change proving too onerous, I’d go for a rejection of the vehicle.
Other than that, I hated the D5s tailgate, but it’s unimportant in the grand scheme of things. It actually grows on you and sets it apart from other cars. There isn’t many on the go and it’s nice to be driving something you don’t see every day unlike the Disco Sport, which is getting to plague like proportions.

And maybe that’s the way they should go? Porsche stopped their biggest seller because of presumed compromises, probably due to the VW issue. But did they say you’re driving it wrong? No they gave their owners a transferable buy back guarantee of purchase price less 10% per year simple for the first 4 years if legislation specifically against their cars is made, seems pretty fair to me.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Three oil services in 9000 miles...
Is this acceptable for a commercial vehicle?

It’s not acceptable in a car, let alone something you rely on to earn your living. Doesn’t it constitute a misdescription?DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

There is no fix for this problem...
Only to do as one is told.... oil change when the car says so.
I don’t want another car 😭😭😭.... my alternative is a yukky land cruiser commercial...
So.... it’s a trip to the garage every 2 months for me...
I’m so busy with work (you can’t get vets for love nor money). I’m flat out 6 days a week with work... it’s all so very difficult at the moment...I need my car and don’t need the faff on to be honest.
I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place.

You'd almost begin to question the judgement of some to have lived with LR motors for so long eh

It’s the reason I binned mine. I was told oil changes would be at a cost to me by way of deducting a service from my plan. First one would be free, though dealer said it wasn’t required when I went in. Second time I emailed them to say it happened again, told it was fine, eventually went off, it came on again and as before told ok to drive and it got traded in with the warning still on.
Hopefully it’s rectified when the new ingenium 3.0 come out but I wouldn’t hold my breath.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

@ Mighty Mildred
Have they actually changed the oil then and/or is there a suspicion of oil dilution?
Mine called for the oil service at 4,800 miles and has now been in, but the dealer stated that this was 'just a software issue' and refused to change the oil... I'm watching and wary!D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

Times change, I thoroughly enjoyed all my LRs, except the first D3 (hence I didn’t want to be a LR tester again) and there still isn’t another car out there if you put off-road capability and driving experience as your top priorities. I feel towing ability and driving experience as mine and found others are better and no service from LR DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
