The market will dictate a price.
Worth having a look at CarGurus. (Stock hanging around and significant price drops)

Just driven from Buckingham to Manchester, M40, M6 Toll, M6.
Frankly, I saw more D5’s than 4 or 3’s put together? Where on earth are you getting your information that they are not selling and that the Land Rover world is going to implode anytime now? There’s loads of them!
There was transporter after transporter convoying south, full of 5’s and Velars.

When I drove up the M40 to the Ice Fest I did notice a fair few D5s on transporters. At least I think they were D5s, they covered up. I must admit, I didn't think they were that ugly.

There is something to be said about 2nd hand values, even though I know you have just ordered a new one.
Just for curiosity and as at a loose end I just looked on autotrader. Used and nearly new D5's - 410 for sale. (Model been out about 10 months). Porsche Macan (my wife's drive)- 309 for sale used and nearly new. But the Macan has been out for nearly 4 years......
I guess you can argue that the D5 has a larger market aspiration, but realistically it is now competing with the Porsche, BMW, Audi, Volvo segment.
So then I looked at new shape Volvo XC90 using 2016 as a proxy. 280 for sale.d4 HSE

Hi Gareth,
If you're seeing more and more D5's in the UK i'm glad.
Believe me or not, i've only seen one here in France, so far,as i drove up to Belgium...which is really strange being used to see quite a lot of D3 and 4's.
@Jimbg,
Whenever i get a chance, i go to Land Rover dealers wherever i am. And we talk freely. I guess it's the same there. It's UNANIMOUS: D5's are not selling well here and customers are not impressed with it's looks.
Jimbg, you seem to be on this forum all they long ready to jump to the throat of whoever says something you disagree on the D5...man, enjoy your car and relax.

I see them all the time, I can’t say that I see more of them than D4s but I go to Gloucestershire a lot and I drive daily around Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire and they aren’t a novelty so maybe it’s a conspiracy LR are having to give them away or pay people to drive about in them DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Leaped - that’s a heck of an achievement in 2016, considering it was being phased out and nothing was built from September - I know, I tried to another unit to the 2016 figure, but there was nothing to buy!2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

Don't forget in your spots of them around the M40 Warwickshire section and around Coventry that you will be seeing a lot of JLR management cars, not customers.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

If you drill down further though it appears that a 1/3 of D5's are listed as 'New' dealer stock with less than 500 miles on the clock ...that's not the same ratio for the other models you mention

Have no idea how you managed to work that out, but well done! Only trouble is that one could interpret it two ways, I think my interpretation would be that the LR dealers have pre-registered stock to meet their numbers and now need to get rid...d4 HSE

It's easy if you select the mileage and then read the words "New car"
Dealers always have had a stock floating around the country ....it's part and parcel of the motor trade ...they can then ship a motor to someone not requiring a factory build within days rather than 12 weeks
