Thanks to everyone involved with sorting this, had half a day tinkering yesterday and now have GSM controlled Webasto. Can't wait to get to Austria in a few weeks time to try it out for real as its quite warm down here at the mo 15 degrees at lunchtime today !! Is it possible to turn the FBH off when the interior of the car has gotten warm enough? I know that modern diesels don't produce much excess heat, but it seems a waste to run the FHB all the time. Surely it hurts mileage, and I don't really think I need it all the time, say at temperatures just below zero.

As I'm a bit scared to loose warranty. Still have 2 years. As I install the so called Russa kit. How much does it cost and can I also make that work with a phone?

Once the engine coolant is up to temp the FBH will shut down, if you outside temp is cold enough that the engine can't maintain its temp then the FBH will fire up again to maintain the coolant temp - but this is what it should do. It won't run all the time regardless if not needed.
If the timer kit is fitted to pre-heat the engine then there is (currently), no pre-heating of the cabin as the climate control fan won't run to warm the interior until the engine is started. Cheers
Simon

It's a LR kit so if fitted properly I can see no reason why it would affect your warranty.
The kit uses the same Webasto timer as fitted by others in posts above so it can be made to work via phone The End

I meant I prefer the LR kit instead the kit that has been suggested for do it yourself.

The LR kit and the DIY version are effectively the same thing. LR one comes with a shaped bezel to help fit it to the front interior light console and a wiring loom, that's about the only difference, they both have the same Webasto timer The End

Yes ..fit the LR approved kit ..then if you want to operate it by phone you have to connect the 2 wires from the back of the Webasto oval timer to the GSM unit.
Like in the first few pictures of this thred. G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Q : Im thinking of treating myself to one of these GSM units but need to do it on the cheap
So, I'm going to do it myself.....
I already have the RF Remote etc fitted (thanks to TFC) and was wondering if I can just move the wires from the RF 12v +ve and -ve and the NO/NC/COM wires to the GSM unit.
I dont need both RF and GSM so can use the RF unit for something else. Also, I have a couple of spare 12v LEDs that I want to connect up so I get a visual indication of when the FBH is running. Where would i connect the LED to ?
All help appreciated.
Thanks Duncan
