here is one for you.
(Manual GB , with TC and performance exhaust system)
Driving along at the high point of RPM in third gear , turn on CC and then turn off again.
take foot off the gas and let the RPM and speed come down. Then Hit CC on again.
What happens next is , the RPM's come back hard. (far faster than if i were to put my
foot on the gas ) the result is the the Disco excelarates faster from the cc button than from my foot
on the gas.
At first I though it was just me but one of my lads at work has noticed it also
Two things
1.) Anyone any ideas why.
2.) TFC .. I must owe you more money for this ...

yep, works with a manual too 8)
something to do with the calculation of fuel input necassary to acheive the required velocity rather than the rate of acceleration based upon throttle potentiometer input - it'll also kick down two gears rather than one t 'help you along'
good innit

Same on the factory fit CC on my manuals... great on those 50MPH motorway roadwork sections when you have to brake as the person in front has no idea how fast 50MPH is
You then hit resume and leave all the non CC luddites standing whilst staying within the law and camera snapping
Its amazing how many people you leave behind on these sections just my concentrating on steering and not having to keep checking the speedo.

Interesting reading this. Mine's auto, and usually I set CC at about 80. If I have to brake, then hit resume, the rate of acceleration is pretty leisurely. If I dab the throttle a little and release it as I hit resume it goes very strongly back to set speed without dropping a gear. If I tried to get the same acceleration with the accelerator pedal, it would certainly want drop a gear.
