Thanks Skynet!
Today's job was to sort the old fecked key:
Easy enough to split the old one, used the old key blade and then into the new casing
Not bad for £16 off eBay I thought.

fitted a rear cage, bought off here - does the job nicely
can you remove the centre seat head rest? or is it just up and down?
tried to pull the thing off and it was stuck tight - didn't want to gorilla it until I'd asked!
next question - can I get the speed reading to be in the digital display in the middle - like this pic (not of my car) - I'm tall and can't see the speedo passed 45 mph!
thank you learned friends

I've figured out the headrest removal now!
still interested if I can get the speedo digital readout - I wonder if this is one of the options I have read about that requires a software alteration??

surprised myself by wining some refurb'd HSE wheels on Ebay which I've just had AT3s put on:
apparently I've got swollen nuts! so next step is to find some new black ones and a locking nut to match.
Also had a replacement tailgate handle arrive in the week so need to find the time to get that fitted before it stops working again.
First run out for the amber rear roof light tomorrow so fingers crossed that stays put!

Beautiful start to the day - liking the black HSEs and the AT3s performed ok in the -2 start to the morning, also nice and quiet on the motorway.
Amber light stayed in place, not as bright as it could be but does the job well enough.
next purchase is some side steps as I very nearly fell on my in the ice this morning fitting the light on the roof!

bit of an update.
Smoke Bomb and a professional clean of the interior resulting in no longer smelling of cigarette smoke
the AT3s are impressing me so far.
and finally got a small time slot to get the Split Charge system wired in.
followed this brilliant guide by Iceman08:
https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic128464.html
working backwards from the top glove box
ran a leader cable from there through to the engine bay, going through the firewall just above the steering column
while in there I ran a 5m battery cable from the second battery, back through the firewall, down the drivers side sill and I've got it back to the rear footwell so far - tomorrow I'll get it the last section back into the boot.
really good to get some time tinkering on the car - despite it being about freezing!formerly Disco3Ben

iiD codes - lots of them!
got some time to play with the new iiD tool
very clever little thing, pulled up LOADS of fault codes:
I know that a lot of these things are old codes that have had the fixes done - so is the best action now to delete them all and then see what comes back?

not sure if my ramblings are of interest to anyone else, but I'm going to keep going for my own record.
I've just cleared all of the faults and nothing came straight back - perhaps it takes a bit of driving around for a few days to log new faults again.
interestingly the parking sensors now seem to be working again perfectly, long may that last, although I have a feeling that it's not that simple to fix formerly Disco3Ben

Thanks chaps.
The iiD has got the parking sensors working again on my D3. And also used it to clear codes and reset on a mates RR today - now fires up and drives, when it didn’t before.
I’m sure these aren’t permanent fixes, but does make life a bit easier in the short term formerly Disco3Ben
