Which cruise ship, purely so we can follow you on CruiseMapper. Always fun on a jolly bumping into a mega-gaggle from a cruise ship then seeing where they are off to. Presently following the Odyssey’s fun and games.

We’re on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas currently heading for Cozumel in Mexico.Cheers,
Did your 'phone autocorrect "Scotland" to "Florida" and "bus" to "cruise"?

Hello all - apologies, a goat up, vent coming up.
We had a couple of days in Florida before joining a cruise and I cannot believe how difficult it is to find healthy food. Everything is full of sugar & salt, unhealthy snack foods are cheap and often have BOGOF offers. There is virtually no fruit of vegetables available. Then to top it off, the amount of single ingredients use plastics is just unbelievable. If cannot remember the US being that bad but my last visit was some 22 years ago in Vermont/New Hampshire.
Then on the cruise where my eyes are truly opened and goat got by the sheer gluttony of some people and the huge amount of good waste.
Of course, I am speaking from a hypocritical position by being on a cruise ship and the amount of pollution they contribute to the world!

And for a change, a good news story. The Visas and Immigration Dept were quoting 12 weeks to process a Spousal Visa.
It took 3 weeks. I don’t know what conclusions you can draw, but that was a lot faster than expected.

Go on admit it, you were hoping for a refusal and your offspring would have to go and live and work in Hong Kong saving you a mega bundle

We see this a lot on travels, peeps with tables groaning under the weight of food and a good wedge of it left. We were brought up to eat what was put in front of us, or we chose, so we take a few bits and return if we fancy more. Clean plates is the order of the day.
Unfortunately you get to our age and looking at a full plate puts half a stone on, hence small plates.
I once went to a Singaporean restaurant in Seattle that was 'all you can eat' but weighed anything left on the plates and charged for it by weight.

Inconsiderate dog owners
Ok, so I know a lot of you love your hounds, but not all of us do ( and I hate cats), and it’s not the dogs that are the issue but their owners. Why do they have the attitude that we should all like dogs. Just over the course of today we have encountered dogs jumping up at my wife, who is petrified of them, and all we get is comments like “they won’t bite”, that’s not the issue, don’t let them jump up on folks. Then walking along the pavement you get folk with multiple dogs on those stupid extending leads that dont pull them in to allow you to pass. And the final thing was when having a coffee the dog owner that let his mutt jump up and sit on the table, where folks were going to place their drinks and food. He didn’t bat an eyelid at this.

I’ve got used to forking out. I don’t suppose that will ever stop no matter where they are. I’d just like one of the kids to be independent as some point.
It used to be you finished your degree and found a job, but not anymore. A lot of graduates go onto another degree or a Masters etc.

I spend a lot of time working in the US. Try being a diabetic! California, you can sort of get buy, but West Virginia, no chance!

I am a dog owner and I agree that all of that is bang out of order. I'd be annoyed if that happened to me and I like dogs. People, not so much.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

On my first trip to the US, we went in to a place to have a drink and a bite. It was late so not much available other than various sandwiches and other snacky stuff. I asked for club sandwiches and a side of fries thinking that would do. The waitress said "Are you from England? Just arrived? You don't need the side of fires, trust me." She was right - the pile of sandwiches was massive and it came with fries anyway. I gave her a good tip as thanks for saving my culinary blushes.
And on both trips to the States, I've been shocked at the food waste, the portion sizes, the lack of vegetables, the amount of crap. And entirely unsurprised at how fat they all are.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
