Our church bells ring loud and proud every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning as well as for special events.
What worries me is that the vocal minority seem to be winning more and more!
Heres another bit of madness. The Midget pub, named after the MG Midget is apparently offensive to those of small stature.

A non issue led by one very loud disability lecturer who happens to be of small stature. The fact the pub has been called the Midget for years and is covered head to toe inside by car memorabilia is irrelevant!
Sadly Green King have caved in although there is now a counter protest which has more signatures to keep the name. Daft thing is, everyone will still call it the Midget! Madness! New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

A local pub at Weeley has to fend off the easily offended brigade at regular intervals.
Its called The Black Boy
I am told that it actually named after the chimney sweep's boy.
Apparently the same easily offended Dr. Pritchard got the name of the popular little sweet changed to Mini Gems
However from Wikipedia this was my understanding of the term
The term may also refer to anything of much smaller than normal size, as a synonym for "miniature" or "mini", such as midget cell, midget crabapple, midget flowerpecker, midget submarine, MG Midget, Daihatsu Midget, and the Midget Mustang airplane; or to anything that regularly uses anything that is smaller than normal (other than a person), such as midget car racing and quarter midget racing.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
There are many pubs in England called The Black Boy.
They are generally named after King Charles II, who was also called “Black Boy” by his mother, Queen Henrietta Maria as a small boy. This is related to his darker hair, and not for being "black".
Black was used differently between then. It was used to describe a person with a darker complexion than normal, often by means of hair or eyes. it didn’t mean African in the sense we use today.
Lord Thomas Fairfax, at one point the leader of the Roundhead cause, and thus Charles’s enemy, was called “Black Tom”. This was due to his darker complexion and tone, notably in his hair and eyes. He was definitely a white man, like King Charles II.

In the 70s at my Catholic primary school every Thursday we would bring our donations to the “Black baby fund” and would earn merit certificates issued by the church.
I never knew it was for chimney sweep kids
We must have been really un PC as we also had a facility across the road for people with various disabilities that had the the word sp**tic in its title. My aunt who had MS and was in a wheelchair would go once a week for physio.
Now if I’m overheard telling this true historical story to anyone I probably could be arrested Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!

Black didn't mean African back then because the term negro was often used instead.
There used to be a "Black Boy Inn" a few villages away from here. The new owners have changed them name as they said the original pub sign showed a black-skinned child in chains (not King Charles II as was later used to excuse the name). Pub's doing well regardless, as I understand it, so people obviously aren't that fussed about the old name going.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

My understanding is that the term "spastic" refers to a particular medical issue concerning muscles. So someone with some other disability wouldn't be suffering from spasticity. I guess that might have something to do with changes.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Apparently in this woke world one should not refer to someone as being "Healthy", "Fit" or "Able Bodied" - you should say that "They", not he or she, is a person without disability!

That is a nonsense, as it clearly refers to the MG Midget.

Spastic cerebral palsy is one type of cerebral palsy (and the most common).

We still have a Robinson's "Golly" mug like this one:

The Golly branding was Robertson's. Their largest factory, the largest jam making factory in Europe at one time, was about 10 miles from me. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
