Jords, yes the number of campervans was really noticeable in Wester Ross, too. Mostly travelling in pairs and of course when one pulls out in front of you from a side road, the second has to follow.
Tends to be a brief respite between Kinlochewe and Achnasheen where the NC500 goes south round Torridon, Applecross and Lochcarron. On the plus side, yesterday's vans seemed to all be privately owned and reasonably experienced drivers, rather than the summer glut of rental novices!Previously:

I did think they might ease off when the schools went back, but the Camper Van demographics tend to favour the elderly, also Visitors tend to be 12 months of the year now.
Ft. Willie traffic was nose to tail from the Golf Club to Achintore Road.
There’s been so many bad and fatal accidents this year. I had the usual Kamikaze idiots yesterday. I am convinced one of them will eventually kill me one day.
Anyway, back to dreich weather this morning.

Yes, it escapes me how the forecasters can ever think that we can have a warm fog with a breeze in the north of Scotland!
Oh, well...I replaced the D3's fog lights earlier in the week and did a test-fire on the FBH, so bring it on! Previously:

Parked up near the beach in a bay marked "Disabled Parking Only" in foot-tall letters on the tarmac. Displayed blue badge properly.
Wandered off, had a coffee at nearby cafe, used the loo (needed credit card for that !)
Came back to car to find I'd been ticketed ... small sign with 1" letters said "30 minutes maximum "
Ffs..

Another Royal Mail one…
Posted a birthday card on bog standard mail to Germany (£2.50 flat charge) on 30th August. Also posted two A4 documents (standard letter size) to same address that cost £8.50 for tracked and signed for with three day delivery.
The birthday card arrived Tuesday 3rd September. As of an hour ago the documents were still in UK
Maybe they won’t be getting married on September 21st then….
(I will attempt to get reprints from local registrar and hand carry them this coming Sunday when we drive over….)

It helps with expanding 40 mins of actual content into an hour's slot in the schedules.
30 second title sequence.
30 seconds of stock intro blurb which is the same for every episode.
1 minute of "coming up in today's programme...".
30 seconds of "coming up after the break" and a couple of sponsors' ad-break bumpers.
3 mins of actual ads.
Another couple of sponsor bumpers and 30 seconds of "before the break we saw....".
Repeat for two more commercial breaks.
30 seconds of "coming up on next week's show", and a couple of minutes of end credits, followed by another 3 mins of commercials.

Spares, list prices and imaginary discounts from the list price.
For example, a Mann cabin air filter’s (FP2747) list price is supposedly 106,06 € according to a very well known European spare parts web site whose name rhymes with autorock….
They then advertise a 66% rebate resulting in the filter being 35,05 €. How is this a discount? I’ve never seen anywhere anyone sell or buy, for that matter, a paper filter for a 100. Neither have I ever seen them list the item at the original price.
Really, I thought that EU had forbidden discounts that really aren’t.
In the UK it used to be (might not be now) that it had to be on sale at the higher price (even if only at one branch) for a continuous period of 28 days before if could be sold at a 'discount'.

Doing a bit of part-time chauffeuring I kill a lot of hours waiting in supermarket car-parks, especially in London. I thought this was a ‘London Problem’ (it is worst there) in that disabled and parent-and-child parking bays are a free for all, if it’s closer to the door it gets parked in (and if ignoring the one-way system to get there is shorter even better…). No one demographic is responsible but single males, 20-30 seem the most prevalent, car type are mostly the mundane or (thinking of the most prevalent demographic) some chavved up sh*te, not entitled Chelsea Tractor types.
Solution? Allow child/disabled friendly charities to clamp them with a ‘donation’ fee to release the vehicle. That’s the moderate attempt at a solution but I’d much prefer a claw hammer through the windscreen personally….
Quick straw poll from yesterday as I was sat facing ten parent-and-child bays for an hour indicated about three cars from the approximate 30 cars I saw in and out were 'allowed' to park there. The car-park was not full (indeed spaces either side of me, 15 foot further away than the restricted bays) and the available bays were not 'undersized' or badly parked in
