Well, insurance companies here in Austria maybe already found out about the extent of the problem.
I just received response that I will not receive any offer for extended warranty even while the car is still within their requirements (age, km) as they're not willing to take over the risk.
Asked for details but I doubt they will respond.

That's a bit worrying. Do you mean an aftermarket non Land Rover warranty?

Yes, aftermarket.
Such market is apparently significantly behind UK level, very few options available here.
I have one, with limit of €2500. So I wanted to find a better one (with higher cap), to cover larger share of a catastrophic scenario case.
I found such offering, up to €5000 (and 10 years/150.000km) but I was rejected with "not willing to take over the risk" message. They knew only generic car data (model, year, km).

I think we all go about our business thinking "it won't happen to my car" but I, for one, have a full Warranty so I have peace of mind.
It's expensive at ca £700 but how much I'm seeing here for engine repairs and other threads on the gearbox does frighten me!
I've been driving all kinds of vehicles for 50 odd years and never had a serious failure - plenty of them were LRs too.Stew,
2010 D4 gone but I really loved it

Is he suggesting that there are 30,000 D4's with crank failure ?
LR sold 200000 D4s in SA ?
I didn't say that and I'm pretty sure the failing cranks don't know where they are
I'm basing that figure on total D4 sales ......I suspect that there should be around 180 D4 engine failures in SA. Are they up to that number yet? Looking at the reported cases and the Russian figures it seems to be about right 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

DSL, I envy
Actually when my legal coverage runs out in few months, I'll reconsider whether to keep D3 as nobody offers extended warranty here.
Risking 10.000 for flawed engine is a lot, it takes big part of good feeling away.

Unless im mistaken you quoted naks who said my 1.3 percent of SA cranks was more like 15 % andvthen you threw 30000 at 15% of SA sold D4s which equates to a total of 200k ?
