Get the Toyota, you'll love the bouncy ride from the cart springs in the back, they'll also make it more fun to drive on twisty wet back roads as you'll never know when the back will step out. The cramped driving position is also brilliant as it stops you getting thrown around inside when the back does let go D4 - Stornoway Grey

In all seriousness, they can be problematic at times, and they usually are expensive to fix, but nothing comes close to comfort, practicality and capability in a single package My D3 Build Thread

There's a saying over here in Oz that I've heard many times....."if you want to get somewhere, you need a Land Rover. If you want to come back, you need a Toyota".
Everyone goes on about Toyota reliability, you just have to read the forums to find that they aren't as golden as the legend says.

1. you get to come on here and get some good therapy and drown your problems with others similarly afflicted.
2. If not mechanically minded or used to working on motors.....you will be......a new life skill
3. but most importantly, you will drive around with a perma grin
in summary the positives of D3 ownership far outweigh the negative, there is no price on happinessThere is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance
Remember, if you go looking for tales of woe and misery, you'll find them. But at least on here, our tales of woe and misery are usually followed by fellow forum members answering and providing hints and tips on how to find an economical fix.
Occasionally, they also take the which will last for pages and pages and pages and....

It's true that commentary around the D3 tends be polarised around those with issues or have had bad experiences but it in the interest of balance it would be good to hear from people who have had only positive and hassle free D3 ownership experiences. Particularly considering the age and mileage of some of these vehicles now it can't be all bad surely. 2007 HSE - 96k miles
