A customer of mine is selling his 13MY D4 GS coming up for sale in early Sept, if you can wait that long. Dark Grey (Orkney, I believe) My D3 Build Thread

fatboynotsothin wrote:Guys any tips on how to search for Land rovers ? Its not as dumb a question as it sounds.. im looking on the Land rover site but it would seem to be the case that not all of the dealers stock is on there (im guessing it has a criteria to meet) so the only other way is too search Land rover dealers in the UK and go to each individual dealers site to search for stock .....EPIC TASK !! ive been through Auto trader an eBay but too no avail ?? HELP !!
I don't understand; this is exactly what I use Autotrader's search function for (unless I'm looking for a total snotter, then eBay and Gumtree tend to be better) and it's the best tool that I've ever found for doing just what you want. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

Im happy to pay the extra money as i understand it the vehicle will come with a Land rover warranty as opposed to a generic used car warranty. I also believe that buying from a Land Rover dealer the vehicle will come with some assurance it wouldn't have other as the vehicle must meet a Land Rover minimum requirement standard.

Ah, there's your mistake.
LR minimum standard can be pretty low!
Looking at the fairly new end of the market a well cared for private example from an enthusiast (eg on here!) may well be a better bet than a polished t*rd from dealer. A lot of WD cover + non covered can be bought for < the £6k dealer premium?
As an example, I sold my last one privately - very high spec 2013 XS. The difference between it's retail price and dealer px was approx £6k. I sold at greater than PX, and the seller then sold on at less than dealer forecourt price.
Try one of the Site Sponsor LR specialist dealers on here? - may well yield a better quality car at a better price? Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Landphil im aware of this feature however not all of the dealers stock is on this site, Land Rover only allow the dealers to advertise specific vehicles.

My experience of looking for a D4 from a LR franchise dealer suggests that the vehicles on the LR Approved Used site are all less than 5 years old & under 100k miles. These vehicles will have balance of manufacturers warranty or will qualify for 2 years LR Approved warranty & 2 years LR Assistance.
Dealers also have vehicles for sale that are over 5 years old but these will typically come with a 12 month dealer based warranty & won't have LR Assistance. These are the ones that pop up on Autotrader & tend to sell very quickly!
So a car less than 3 years old (whether private or dealer sale) will have balance of manufacturer warranty & assistance (plus maybe LR Aprroved up to 2 years from date of sale); cars between 3 & 5 years old from a dealer will have 2 years LR Approved warranty & assistance;and, cars over 5 years old from a dealer will have 1 year warranty & recovery/roadside the same as you can get from WD & AA/RAC/etc.
My experience for what it's worth.
D4 - Stornoway Grey
D2 V8 - Zambesi Silver (rust free JDM import 😎)
FL2 - Sd4 HSE
110 Td5 DCPU - Bonatti Grey - sold
FL2 Td4 - Zambesi Silver - sold
D2 Td5 - Epsom Green - sold
F1 Td4 - Giverney Green - sold
90 300 Tdi - White – sold BIG mistake should have kept it!
F1 Td4 - written off by a taxi!
D1 300 Tdi - written off by a Fiesta...
D1 200 Tdi - sold
90 Turbo Diesel - sold
Ser 2a SWB - sold and glad I 'got rid'
Ser 2 SWB - sold but wish I still had it!

Im currently looking into a 60 Plate D4 at Stratstone, its done 70k, They tell me that they can give me 6 months Land rover Warranty included in the price which i can upgrade to 12 months for a cost of approx £300. He also assures me that i can extend the Land rover Warranty he gives me when it expires in 12 months time. Im not sure that a generic used car warranty offers the same assurances a Land rover warranty does ?
