Keep an eye on the dealers using Autotrader as they often retail cars that are over 5 years old like the one at Stratstone you found, that said I'd look for a slightly newer one with lower spec - XS or even GS with leather, & get a 2 year Land Rover approved warranty & 2 years assistance for peace of mind. I was browsing for 5-6 months then got mine from a dealer. D4 - Stornoway Grey
D2 V8 - Zambesi Silver (rust free JDM import π)

Man up. You know you want one and you know its the right thing to do. All cars have issues. My mates new Β£130k Aston has spent most of the last 7 months in the dealers with a string of faults. Thats life. However, the knowledge and help available on this forum will see you right.
If you have a look at my avatar, it says Decade. I've owned my old bus since new, she is just over 11 years old, has 190k on the clock, works for a living and is the most ridiculosly reliable car ever. I could have changed her many times over but I'm rather found of her and so is my family. She has been an integral part of my family's life.

If you need convincing it aint for you , when you happen upon a Disco in a showroom on a forecourt or wherever , you get a sense of knowing and become driven and then you drive
All you need then is an 800 quid warranty for tge first 3 years and its just like owning any 4x4 but with a sense of command and comfort nothing else will ever offer , on or off road
Nothing or nobody needed to convince me

My mate has two landcruisers, his main one has just clocked 200k on a 2001 plate.
In the 9yrs I worked with him it was mainly service items, it liked tyres, the odd calliper, one rear light due to corrosion and er thats it, but the chassis rust is very impressive!
Duller than ditchwater though.

I like the idea of a Β£5,750 Disco, with a numberplate that says " A. .. DOG
I can only go on my experience of the first 7 months and 19,000 miles from new in mine. I bought it on a PCP plan with the safety net of being able to hand it back after 3 years / 90,000 miles and walk away. However, after only about 3 or 4 months I was convinced enough to pay off the PCP and make this car a long termer. If I can crack 250,000 - 300,000 miles in it'll, then I'll be very happy
The odd bit of bother isn't unique to Land Rover. For instance, my brother runs a well used Toyota 4x4 that, while he loves it, it breaks, rusts and generally falls apart just like any other non-Toyota product of the same age would. Where a Toyota usually wins out is, electrical aside, most of the technology could be taken to a developing world blacksmith to fix!
Pick a good Disco, be realistic about the running costs, keep it maintained and there's a very good chance it'll be absolutely fine 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as βsecondβ cars π
2021 to date: Hinckley built β14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built β14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

I'm looking for one from a Landrover dealer rather than an independent so as to allow me to get a Landrover warranty as opposed to a generic used car warranty.
