You would have to be out of your mind to buy a new model LR at launch. Laughing

You'll only be paying to do the testing that they never bothered to do. Laughing

Why the car will be running on the same gear as other models and the same chassis and a lot of these are already on the road and have done most of the testing. As for the items that are not already used, LR will have done a lot of testing and if there are issues the cars are under warranty and the issues will be fixed.
I had one of the first D4 3.0L and had issues, it took time to get resolved but LR backed me all the way and sorted the issues. Thumbs Up

Just makes me even more pleased with our decision to buy another D4 before it gets replaced.
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Just had a call from someone at JLR (not a dealer) asking if I wanted to sell them my MY11 D4 and upgrade to a pre-reg 15 plate.

Conversation went backwards and forwards for a few minutes and having said that I wold probably prefer an outgoing D4 to its replacement, he intimated that the D4 replacement will be along next year and will be heavily influenced by the DS.

Sounds as if things aren't going to be too far removed from this old feature.

If you go off that its likely to be a DC100 type vehicle but more luxurious.

IMO i think its going to just be a fattened DS with price to match. JLR are all into the pricing bandwagon of being just a bit more than competitors to not scare sheep off but to still make extra money for doing nothing but changing some bits and bobs.

I actually think they have a squisher machine at the factory and all the cars start as 405's and jsut get squashed down Very Happy Its like their design team have gone 'err were making a killing on those 405's so lets just make smaller versions and reduce the price by the same amount even if it costs us £10k to make it... Very Happy
The days of an almost utilitarian bigger LR are over now unless you go for the defender replacement.

now dont get me wrong, they are all probably quite capable off road but then the price of the bits that will get scuffed and scratched off road will be horrendous and be mostly plastic or thin metalwork as well Sad

Test piloted a new D4 XS SDV6.. Gone and being forgotten i hope!!

I was thinking the D5 would be more 'top centre' on that list.

Sloped back so won't get 3 piece suite in back with ease o dear if space is compromised lets hope they make up with the rest of it and is a market leader for range with " wow" factor which will keep it at top of it's game like it's D3/D4 have for last 11 years....

Have we gone off the idea that it might be based on the Vision concept?
These could be running around under RRS mules and we wouldn't have a clue!

If they are they are very well hidden ...all other models, new DS, FFRR, Evoque, RRS, F-PACE have been out testing with their own cammo'd bodies at least 12-18 months before release. If I'm wrong then even then they can't hide under another shell for real world testing beyond chassis only for long. Whistle

Late to this and haven't read the whole thing, but was in the dealers today and he said finished model to be shown to the public late 2016,with deliveries to start early to mid-2017...
He also said they have only just identified a potential site for the factory for the "New Defender" so goodness knows when that's due...
Only what my dealer reckoned...
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Locking rear E-diff
RLD spare wheel protector & sump guard
Extended roof rails
Series 111 mudflaps

D4 Firenze my2012 HSE
D3 Java 2005 SE manual (sold, sadly, thanks for the memories)
1966 '88 Series 2a....still starts in the morning better than I do...
