Never been an issue at my dealer either. Last time I had a screamer they replaced the whole lot under warranty and its been fine since.

Ever wondered why Range Rover doesn`t have EPB... apparently RR owners wouldn`t put up with any potential problems so the system was trialled on Disco3 as I guess we`re not as important..
Personally I feel for this type of vehicle a simple mechanical handbrake should be reintroduced as it does seem to be a huge problem (I`ve had two D3`s with this issue) while other suspension problems have been ironed out. If LR can`t sort it out to be able to cope with mud , why not go back to something that works..?

I could just imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth on here if peoples beloved D3's went in for a service and had their EPB removed and a manual handbrake fitted instead just because some people had had a problem with their EPB. It was bad enough when they took away the pre heat which wasn't a fully supported function. They should fix the problem for those suffering it but don't suggest they take it away from those of us who love it and on whose cars it works perfectly.

FFRR's do have an EPB....
I don't think anyone's suggested that mud is the full cause, more an indicator, from discussions i've had the root cause appears to be the adjustment mechanism losing its setting, possibly due to the vibration caused by TC/HDC during offroad use. The bedding in procedure does clear mud & debris from the shoes but doesn't (and is not intended to) readjust the park brake shoe position

Confirmed today the issue of the adjusting mechanism losing it's setting - also confirmed that pulling FL8 from the BJB will disable parkbrake activity with no impact upon other systems (on a manual 'box at least)... the people I've spoke to will be referring the info back to those on the higher rungs of LR for a resolution. I suspect that at some point an uprated PB shoe adjuster will make an appearance although slow-acting threadlock compound may well be an interim measure

Went back to my dealer about this and my £90....
He was quite happy to investigate and if he could get it under warranty then he would...
He spoke to Andrew's dealer and No Dosh's dealer to find out how they got it through under warranty...
Both said "oh yes" and went to dig out the TSB but were unable to find it...they were no longer in the book.
I think I'm getting this right, but it may not be 100% accurate.
Both dealers said "oh yes" and went to dig out the TSB but were unable to find it...they were no longer in the book.
This TSB was withdrawn earlier in the year
A memo was sent out by LR late last week stating that this fault was not to be done under warranty
Brake adjustment is not carried out automatically at service, however checks are carried out and if required will be done at extra cost.
If anybody manages to get this sorted out under warranty in the future please let me know as I would like to get my money back and my service manager would like to offer it to all his customers....

I would be asking LR Customer Service where their warranty says "we cover everything for 3 years except bits we were a bit shoddy in designing that might go wrong a lot if the car is used for its intended purpose"
Actually, I think I'd be a bit more direct than that, possibly by driving to Solihull and ramming the gates until they fixed the effing thing. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I've got a 2006 G4 Challange D3. it was used in Thailand. I've been reading the threads about the hand brake making a horrible nosie. Mine does the same it started about 2 weeks ago but it's going back to the dealer Thursday. Sometimes it's nosie free and then later on the nosie doesn't stop. Iv'e had a chat with Brian Reynolds the 2006 G4 Challenge Team Spirit Winner from the event and he said, we were advised by all of the LR Experience people we were instructed by to never use the handbrake. So they must of known the handbrake wouldn't last on the event. Also how do you upload pic I can't work it out.
Thanks

mmm... I really wish LR would admit they have messed up on this and sort it out. I for one don't want to be paying for this to be fixed when my D3 goes out of warranty.
For the pic upload see here and here.
Welcome to the mad house !
