In response to a PM requesting further info...
Quote:With respect to Discovery 3, torque is boosted by around 20%, with mpg up by around 8-12%, the reason I say 'around' is due to the adaptive nature of the engine contol unit and the manufacturing tolerance of the engine and it's ancillary components. Fuel consumption is obviously dependent upon driving style, transmission type, ambient temperature, vehicle load, tyre type etc.
cost will be circa £550 although it is yet to be finalised and will be plus VAT, there is every likelyhood that the 'disco3.co.uk' price will be £50 lower than the full retail price. Should the vehicle need a reapplication of the remap due to an LR dealer updating the ECU, this will be free for as long as you own the vehicle.
The advantages over the <edited> tune are mainly that it has been developed more recently and tested extensively on both '06 & '07 MY's in real environments - not just in a software environments. I am selling it under my own 'Torq-Tune' brand to reflect the additional development and refinement over and above the commercial remaps that I buy in and apply my own 'overlay' to. The tune is transparent to LR dealers and will not compromise any future warranty claims on the vehicle or specific to the engine.
Because it has been 'tweaked' due to real-world testing, it is very much at home in the environment you suggest<* edit: Question was specifically with respect to''country lanes and A roads' >, along with the torque boost, the torque 'useability' is enhanced, basically you can hold on to gears longer to keep the turbo boost 'on song' when needed together with an early shift up to 6th gear at around 45-50 mph for 'A' road cruising

LR Tuning & myself use a purpose-made bit of kit to apply the remaps via the diagnostic port, as each remap is built specifically for each individual vehicle, the technology & process requires the use of a dedicated interface not 'piggybacking' onto other functions

Wiggs, the OBD2 interface is only fully functional with the dash warning lights on, if you are reading (or trying to ) live data, then the engine can be running. If you are trying to get an ELM 327 diagnostic reader working, then I suspect it's a software / firmware problem you have

Iain, how is this achieved ?
Does the TT solution download the 'learned' data from the ECU's to achieve a unique to each engine re-map ? Or is it just tied to each vehicle from a copy protection point of view... ?
Just interested
