Quote:offer a 'try & buy' at the Rockingham weekend
try Torq-Tune and then buy TFC Desperados?
How many Desperados are we talking 10?
Need to rationalise this to SWMBO - as i've spent a small fortune over the last week

As a test, I drove mine like on a mixed road drive of 130 miles I got an (displayed) average of 39.8 mpg - got a video @93 miles in with an indicated 40.1 to prove it 8)
This was on an 07MY manual and a 1-off test, still, prior to the remap I was getting about 32 - 33 mpg on the same journey. As with any remap, you'll get either a performance increase and an mpg increase - but not both at the same time

Pricing is still to be finalised, although there should be some form of 'group buy' type discount available at Rockingham
Bear in mind this is a new & unique product, the TDV6 & TDV8 tunes have various 'add-on' modules available to cater for specific usage such as heavy towing or issues such as excessive exhaust smoke, although IMO the 'standard' remap is superior to other offerings, it's the flexibility of the system that makes it a winner
and before anybody mentions it - I have contacted Martin with regard to advertising, just waiting for an answer

So, as a speculative question, i do circa 18-20k a year.
Mostly bombing down the M40/M1/M25 to London say 12k pa on the way to the office.
The rest is local stuff (Tescos, kids to school and dragging the tintent around).
What kind of Torq-Tune product would you suggest and what (ballpark) benefits would i see?
I appreciate that you can't tell me precisely (mpg benefits etc), but it'd be useful to get an idea, so i know whether to mortgage one of the kids ready for Rockingham
Also would this kind of tune get noticed by the dealer - thinking warranty type issues here (plus when they upload the latest patches what happens to the T-T?)

Unless you have specific usage or usability issues, the 'standard' remap is fine - well, more than fine - it's amazing...
torque is boosted by 20%, mpg can raise by 8 - 12%, dependent upon vehicle load, driving style, gearbox etc.
As with most remaps, it's transparent to the dealer and if it's overwritten, i'll remap it again F.O.C.
WRT LR warranty, the onus is on LR to prove that any remap caused a problem - given that LR push their development maps far further than any aftermarket remap does, they'd have a hard time proving it
provided your disco3 is still in mainland UK

TFC.
Proof is in the pudding mate, but it smells nice
Whilst we're on the subject of upgrades - couldn't get your hands on a TDV8 and drop it in my D3 could you?
Wouldn't need to mortgage the kids, i'd sell me vital organs... wouldn't need'em for that long anyway

not yet - although torque curves only provide part of the story, other parameters also affect fuel economy, driveability and performance such as EGR actuation, VVT pressures, fuel rail pressure etc. Some of these contribute to the torque boost and some to the torque spread. This tune concentrates on 'driveability' rather than producing raw performance numbers

I was just flicking through the readings using the 'i' button to give the readouts although IIRC the speed was slightly over the legal maximum for a dual carriageway at that point
