Would love to do 'try & buy' as a feature, unfortunately due to the way the licencing works and the upgrade process, the overheads for a 'no sale' are a fair few ££££, how about if I can get you a remapped 06MY to try?

would there be much difference between a 2007 model and a 2006 model that have both been chipped? I know that a manual will always be a bit better than an auto.
Realise try before you buy is not possible, I would not have thought any chipping company would offer that.
Trying another 06 chipped car might be an idea.
First thing I need to do though is to find out how much extra my insurance company would charge. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

There is a different mapping for '05 / 06 My to 07MY due to the differences in the engine ancillaries, fuel rail pressure and EGR mapping - amongst other things... Although it's the same 'core' engine, there are significant differences that make a remap specific to the MY.
Depending on your insurance co. it could be either 'no problem' or 'no way' - it usually helps to say that it's a fuel economy remap rather than a performance one - which is not a lie, it just depends how you drive it....
And playing devils advocate, if it's transparent to LR, dealers - how would your ins. co. know? they already us over on a whim and with no good reason so think of it as getting your moneys worth if you want

A few questions about this then Iain if I may.
If Torq-Tune was applied and then overwritten by the dealer, you say that it will be re-applied FOC. Is that you personally doing it FOC or Torq-Tune guaranteeing it?
How many Torq-Tune installers are there (in UK)
What would happen if you decided not to do it anymore.
How long will they overwrite FOC for? Lifetime of the owner or lifetime of the vehicle or a specific term (3yrs?)
Could ask the same questions of JE & TC also....
Cheers

Bodsy,
The remap will be reapplied FoC for the period the vehicle is owned by the person purchasing the remap.
'Torq-Tune' is the brand name I'll be installing and marketing under, every vehicle that has the remap installed involves me purchasing a 'licence' for the remap specific to that vehicle from the tune originating company, should I cease trading, then the licence is still valid for that vehicle provided it's still owned by the person who originally paid for the remap.
There is currently three installers in UK using the same mapping software (although the branding may be different) Should a reinstall be necassary, it's entirely possible that it may be carried out by someone other than the original installer under a reciprocal agreement between the installers. Having to reinstall is a 'risk' all installers take on, some of this risk is factored into the initial cost, so don't feel too bad if you need it reinstalled
