The seals in the trottle body on mine were leaking. Poor fuel economy and hesitation on take off but no lights. Could vary with how bad and where it leaks. Maybe check the seal? Idea
It's in the same area as the sensor.

Latest is pointing towards turbo issue / sticking vanes.

So for everyone else with the symptoms being described in this (and related) thread, I would press your dealer to verify this rather than simply rely on the IDS output....'cos as of today, my car has no faults logged despite the ongoing problem manifesting twice yesterday...
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

My Turbo was replaced a couple of weeks ago, and it still had the same problem, it then went back and had the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) replaced, so far so good but not counting chickens yet.

It still looks as clear as mud to me. Me thinks Email to TFC next month to book service for June and see what the Expert thinks.

Well my specialist hooked up computer to it this week and it threw up 1)Turbo fault 2)Intercooler fault and
3)EGR issue. Not sure of codes but they phoned diagnostic company to ask a bit more and once they mentioned it was a D3 the bloke realed off the codes they'd just come up with saying its regular occurence. Also been suggested could be a pin prick hole in air intake messing with everything else?? I dunno.

Phoned supplying dealer to book it in - He said they'll run another diagnostic check then do some further tests before ordering parts HO HUM!!!

and again

Pretty fed up today, went 'Basil Fawlty' on it this morning when it stopped for the 5th time in a mile.

After calming down, I spoke to the garage and got it taken to the workshop on the back of a rescue service truck. 'Best not to cause any more damage, sir' they said.

Read codes: P0299 Turbo and loads of MAP errors. So New turbo ordered...probably a week or two before I get it back and I'll keep you informed. Thats if I dont swap it for an Austin.

Oh, it was -18C again.

Latest for me...

Had the "Engine System Fault" and HDC/Special Programs Off only once since last Tuesday. This was on Sunday evening but the car had performed perfectly all weekend (motorway, A-road and lots of off-road down forest tracks when camping).

So was booked into the dealer for today and tomorrow - diagnosed as needing an engine thermostat change (not the turbo or turbo vanes...it seems...)

Got it back in one day - I'll see how it goes from here...

(they also did the P017 brake vacuum recall....and replaced the air compressor, which I wasn't expecting...)
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

....and the latest from me following me collecting the car from the dealer today:

No DTC faults logged in PCM, TCM, TCCM, RLCM or VDCM

How can this be when I have recently had two engine system faults requiring a switch off re-start to re-set and allow me to continue? Is this possible?

They cannot replicate the fault. It pretty much only ever occurs when towing.

They also declined to replace the sticky steering wheel. I guess I was not surprised!

Next time it happens, I suppose I need to keep the engine running, call LRA and wait at the side of the road. I can't say I am looking forward to it.

I will hitch the trailler up at the weekend and prepare myself!

So..."Engine System Fault" is back.... Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad But no power loss this time. Happened this morning. Car has been fine for two weeks.

Funnily enough, the workshop manager called me 10 minutes after the message came up to see if everything was okay since they returned the vehicle...

Straight to the dealer and showing fault code P2199 (the same old one - "Intake Air Temperature 1/2 Correlation". Related to the mass airflow sensor). They have called LR Benelux and will get back to me tomorrow.

Here's the But - workshop manager has now heard there are a few vehicles within the Benelux network reporting this type of issue (ie strange power loss / message; unable to fully resolve etc). Not many vehicles, but the dealers have been comparing notes apparently and realised there could be a pattern...

Could be we have found a new inherent LR fault...?
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Mine is running Ok but I don't use it much, I will be doing a longer journey this weekend so hopefully if there is going to be another 'limp mode' it will happen then. Your news is not welcome but good that I know I may still get a problem on a new car' that has already let me down many times, causing inconvenience, stress and additional expense. And people still continue to buy these things? Rolling Eyes

Mmm - I can join the club as well now. 55 plate SE Auto with the trailer on - joined the M40 today at about 45mpg, foot down hard, engine managemnt light, loss of special programmes, and no power: interesting being in the middle lane passing the lorries Shocked

Anyway went on to the hard shoulder, into neutral, it revved and then I had power again. Drove another 120 miles no problems, set of home with a Series II on the trailer steep hill, 45mph foot down - same result.

Anyway carried on came of the motorway and then it happend another 5 times - ended up driving the last 3 miles at 25mph!

I'll try and get it looked in the next day or two and then add to the debate!

Had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago (usually when towing caravan)
Took it to LR and it was one of the EGR valves which i had to get replaced
Been told since you can buy blankers for them and a good mechanic should be able to fit it?
