My (rather large) parcel from TLO arrived yesterday, and I installed it all today. It all went pretty well - I'll try to post some pics if anyone's interested. I did have one minor issue though...
My Australian SE spec vehicle didn't have the rear cigarette lighter panel, so I ordered and received one of the AUX input panels from Nick. However the Aux panel doesn't include the cigarette lighter itself - just has a blank hole. Anyone know if its possible to order the lighter seperately, and if so, the part number ??
Just wanted to say how impressed I am with the quality of the picture that these screens provide & also the sound from the IR headphones is pretty good too.
I took the slightly longer route of removing all the components from the FL2 headrests - Screen, Screen mount & backplate and then fitted them to my original D3 headrests. Does involve quite a bit off drilling , cutting and sticking but think it was worth it to keep the original headrest. I also found out that the D3 headrests do have an extra box section at the top that the handles fit into making them a bit more rigid.
Will post a couple of pics tomorrow when Ii can take them in daylightCheers Ian

i take it then the screens are quite easy to remove?
what do they look like removed are all the backs enclosed, no wiring showing ?
i'm think of taking a pair myself but to remove the screens and use for under kitchen cabinet screens with a laptop hidden for playing movies or listing recipesTLO has left the building.......

TLO
Pipers out at Sparkford have got one of mine investigating the re-skinning from FL Alpaca to D3 Tundra. One of the options is to place the display in the original D3 headrest 'cos the FL headrests are not 'skinned' like the D3 but are moulded (blown, whatever - single piece anyroad).
I'll let you know how they get on.

Pictures of hard bit of install
I have uploaded the picture i took during the install to my gallery
hope these help
1 month later still not quite finished my install back to the day job and the D3 has to wait!
Nick - The screens are easy to remove from FL2 headrests:
- Pull little black cover / plug out of bottom of headrest.
- In the hole you will feel a metal lollipop stick (for want of a better description)
- it has a small hole in it, i just put a small screwdriver through the hole & pulled it out (about 5 ins long)
This lock the screen into the holder...once this is hout the screen is just held by 2 tabs eack side...
Again using a small screwdriver, down the side of the screen (opposite from wire exit) open the gap between screen & holder. You should be able to see the 2 tabs Then with small diver lever screen out. Once that side is out other just follows , but you have to feed wire back up headrest shaft to allow a bit of space.
Wire then disconnects from top right hand side of screen - multiplug.
Screen holders are held in with 4 self tappers . Headrest material just stuck approx 5mm all way round.
Once these are out just pull wire back up post & out through oblong hole....Done !!
There is also another screen mount held onto headrest frame by 2 self tappers if you need that !!
Screens are fully enclosed ...nice little shaped units...should all make sense when you have them out
Hardest part was drilling out D3 headrest frame to take wire. I used one of the FL2 frames as a template once I had got it out of the FL2 headrest with the help of a stanley knife!!
Then it is a matter of :
- Fitting mounting plate to D3 headrest frame
- Thread wire down headrest frame
- Take foam out of cover, Draw round screen mount & cut hole in foam
- Put foam back in cover
- Frame back into foam
- Cut cover
- Fit screen mount through hole in cover & glue cover to mount all way round
- Fit screens
Jobs a good 'un.... FL2 screens into D3 headrests!!
Cheers Ian
