Front Towing eye cover - AGAIN FFS!!!
OK, car is 2 weeks old. I went throughout the ford earlier today and I have just noticed that my front towing eye cover is missing. This happened on my last D4 and whilst the dealer replaced it the first time because we weren't sure if it had been attached properly when it happened a second time, I bit the bullet and paid for a new one. This was after the having owned the car for about a similar period of time. Now having had it happen for a third time I have to ask, is it a design flaw that is causing them to come loose or is it just not being attached properly at the factory? This has only happened on a MY14 and an MY15 I hasten to add.
Anyone else had this issue? If you haven't you might want to watch out for that. Also my car now won't recognise my iPod either so as new cars go, it's a bit disappointing. I only got it back yesterday after it was in for a day to have the interior light fixed as it wouldn't come on with the door opening. I'm a huge LR fan but this is taking the shine off a little bit tbh.

Slightly different situation, I had to remove my cover to get to the towing eye (yes I got stuck!), do you think I can get the dam thing back on, twenty mins later I gave up, managed to get two of the clips to locate, no chance on the other two! For fear for loosing it I left it off, seems flawed...

It is fiddly to put on, Doesn't seem to locate very well although there was a knack to it when we replaced the last one. Can't remember what the knack was now of course Just chatted to my (superb) dealer and he has ordered a replacement for me. Apparently, they are fitted at the PDI by all accounts. If this is the case, maybe there is a tech at this particular dealer who is having the same problems we are having when trying to fit it! My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Sounds like you getting it sorted & yes if that knack comes back to you please let us (or at least me) know
Just fit a sump guard! Works just as well as the cover and gives more protection. I have no experience of the D4 cover but it sounds like they've not improved on it since the D3 one.
They are such a flimsy contraption with 4 tiny plastic pegs attaching it along one edge. I got sick of mine falling off at the hint of a puddle or some longish grass, so I binned it and got a Mantec guard instead.
The beauty of the Mantec one, apart from the properly robust construction, is that it leaves the towing eye exposed so there's no need to remove anything to use it.Clive

If they are the same as the D3 you have to put the back edge on first, there are lugs at the back that fit over the top to support it while you put a plug/screw in the front, if these lugs are not put over the top the plate will fall off as the screws cannot be turned enough to lock.
In contrast I was following a ML through a water splash and he lost the whole front bumper and drove over it It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
Surely it should be removed before fording? I'd say that the correct procedure would be to remove to before off-roading, and is consider a ford to be more off road than on?

Strangely enough, t'was only yesterday when I thought 'that doesn't look right...' and pushed it all back into alignment and yet today, some 25 miles later, it looks loose again.
Will have a proper fiddle with it tomorrow to see if I can see what the issue might be...D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

Not 100% sure about that, here's a photo of mine and I was told it had just come off the transporter so hasn't been PDI'd yet and as you can see the towing cover is fitted. It will be getting removed this week as one of Uncle Ray's sump guards is going on
