The ford was only about 10 inches deep with a made and sealed road visible underneath with no holes or dips in it and the ford itself was all of 15 metres. Hardly off road tbh. LOL My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

we did LRE devon trec day and crossing the river otter the cover came off.and some juniors managed to salvage it..thought it was me going too fast...
have now attached some strong nylon cord to it so if it does part it should still be with the vehicle.

It would appear that there is a design fault perhaps in the fastening of this cover if there have been several reported cases of it being lost whilst fording. I will contact Pete and see what if any response there is. My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Well, it's happened again. Same ford, same depth, no bumps or potholes and correct fording procedure applied. Got home, then noticed it had gone again. I am STILL waiting for my dealer to come back to me. IMHO there is a deign fault in the redesigned front bumper assembly in the MY14 and MY15 models. Can we just collate how many people have had the same issue and I will pass the info on to Pete @ LR Customer Service? Minor thing to some but at the money they charge for the car and the fact that the My12 and MY13s I've owned never had the problem, I'm a tad miffed !

LOL Ron! If I was going through at mach like you see some doing, I'd understand. I am going through as per correct fording technique. Slowly and just pushing the bow wave, such that it is, in front of the car. My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Sump plate is always a good idea but I'm just railing a bit at the poor design more than anything! Sump plate could be on order after Xmas although I'm test driving a Jag XF Sportbrake tomorrow and the CLS Shooting Brake next week. Might have a little break from D4s for a little while. Ali ( SWMBO) loves hers and will keep it. Me? Not so sure at the minute. Really need a normal level estate car so I can get my wheelchair into it on the front passenger seat. I don't want to sell the D4 but the noises my dealer is making about no discount when the D5(?) comes out in 2016 makes me twitchy. I totally understand the commercial reasons behind it but I don't want to get stung with selling and outgoing model at a lower price and then paying list on the new model. After having bought a few cars from them, it smarts a little bit! Might come away from the brand until the D5 has been out for a bit then come back. Just a thought at this stage. If the winter gets really bad down here in Kent I always have the D2!

Maybe that's what it is ...... you're doing it correct.
Maybe you should be giving it some wellie ...... that way it may force the b*gger to stay on.

It's looking that way Russell. I know what they sold the last one for and what they gave me in PX. I know they have overheads and have to make a profit but as with many dealers, the px values are ridiculous! My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Just had a look at the front of my MY14 D4, and the front edge was unclipped. Looks like the design is poor, and the front would pop down as soon as any excess pressure from water is applied... TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)
