Mines done the same after 5 weeks. Never had this with the previous 4 D4s, definite design problem, did Pete from LRCS ever get back to anyone over this?. Using cheaper parts on a car that costs more each model year is the best way to loose customers LR.2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

Mine's exactly 2 weeks old and front tow cover is trying to escape! After 450 miles its unclipped at the top, pushed it back in and the side pops out a few mm, push that in and the other side does it Has anyone looked at strategically placing a couple of SS self tappers?? That being said its a bit off having to consider this on a premium car
ps still loving everything else though! 8)

Your thinking about a few self tappers. Others, me included, have considered a mantec cover at £250+! We're all trying to find fixes for it when we should be throwing f ks at the dealer to get it sorted.
It's an absolute joke that LR haven't sorted this out. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

Me too!
I lost mine last weekend crossing a slightly flooded dip in the road. The water couldn't have been more than a foot deep and about 30 yards wide. I used the correct fording technique, entering at slow speed and pushing a bow wave ahead because I wasn't sure of the maximum depth I would encounter. Anyway, a couple of miles further on I get home and found the towing eye cover was missing! First thing Monday morning, contacted the dealer and raised the question of whether this would be a warranty item and was told no, absolutely not unless I could prove it was a manufacturing defect or faulty workmanship and they'd never heard of one coming off! They insinuated that I must have damaged it and was trying to claim for a new one I told them that I have never taken the vehicle off road or so much as bumped up a kerb with it so I could not have possibly damaged it and I was pretty miffed that they were in effect calling me a liar. Also it shouldn't have come off, that there's no mention in the handbook about taking it off to cross puddles and for a £56K car it was poor customer service on their part that we should be bickering about a £50 part. I went back to the flooded section a couple of day later when the water had subsided and found the part washed up on the side of the road. Needless to say it was damaged, probably because I had run over it when it fell off or someone else had run over it in the water. All the fasteners along the bottom edge were present but really distorted and twisted and it looked as though someone had some difficulty fitting it. Anyway, took it back to the dealers to show them and they still insisted that it must have come off because it was damaged. I said it was damaged because it had fallen off!

Contact Pete at Land Rover he has a pm on here, I have had this issue since taking delivery of mine and have logged the issue with my dealer and have had them put it on my file that if it falls off and gets lost I will want it replaced foc. They have orederd replacements and fitted them but they still kept unclipping so it was left that if it fell off they would replace it. I go through a ford every week and have to put it back on and have requested Pete to sort even if it means LR having to fit a sump gaurd at there expence!
The more that email him the bigger chance that something will be done.
This Tow cover and the poor camera system is the only issues I have had with mine, It is now 8 months old and LR technical have failed to come up with a cure for either issue.
I must say though that my Dealer has been brilliant and tried everything in there power but it seems to go quiet once it is passed to JLRMY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

To be honest if it were me I'd be having a serious tantrum at the stealers if I had paid £50k plus for a car and a piece kept falling off.
Who am I kidding. I recently paid £10k for my disco and at the moment it's probably got half its value of parts that need sorting and replacing. Jarrod

The fact that your dealer said they have not heard of it is worrying as all the ones in both my local showrooms are unclipped, If you look on here at new D4 pictures posted by forum members as they get them 90% show the cover unclipped MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

I had two of mine replaced under warranty. I hope this helps. Please feel free to quote this to Pete @ LR Customer Services. Both mine and the Ex wife' came off in very similar conditions to the ones you describe. I'm happy to confirm this to Pete if he needs it but records should show it to be the case. Index numbers for both cars were : AL12ONH and AB57EVE - Both numbers are now on different cars. Dealer was Beadles @ Sidcup who I cannot recommend highly enough incidentally. MY12 not a problem. MY15 keeps coming undone, push in one side the other end comes off.
Have written to dealer about that, the awful quality of the cameras and the high quality crap fablon ''straight grained walnut trim''. All I got back was that they would use the information to ensure future models didn't have the same problems - not the slightest offer to investigate or correct the three problems as they were quite obviously fully aware of them..
