Driving abroad. Do adaptive lights need adjusting manually?
Can anyone advise on whether on a 2016MY HSE Lux when I use the control panel to tell the adapative lights that I am driving on the right (separate options in control panel - driving on left - driving on right -) does this mean I don't have to do anything else? No fiddling around with the actual light units themselves and the lever you used to have to raise/lower?
I don't see what the point of the control panel option is otherwise.

I believe you do not have to do anything to the lights from around MY12. Is the option you are on about not to do with the HBA and not the actual lights.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I asked the same question , dealer told me these lights are a flat beam ( whatever that means) I have been in Spain since Sept 2015 no problems with on coming traffic , I have come to the conclusion that the beam does not point to the left or right, but straight ahead. so no ajustment required.

I believe that the control panel adjustment is for "auto-dip", and that the headlights themselves do not need adjustment.

As Russell says, the Left/Right is for HBA (high beam assist) where fitted.
You don't need to mask or adjust the MY15 xenons
My D3 had a lever on the headlights, my D4, nothing required MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Whereabouts is the lever?There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.
MY15/16 requires no adjustment, earlier models had a lever inside the headlamp as shown above, and if HBA is fitted and used you should use the menu to change from left to right driving - this adjusts the sensor parameters not the headlamps themselves.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
