I doubt it will with the collar and huge bolts that are also applied as per the pic, the glue just fills in the extra free space

One week of ownership and the first bit of engineering strikes.
Went to open upper tailgate and it half opened them stopped!
Neither open nor shut I'm driving round with interior lights on and doors trying to lock every time I pull off, message on dash and horn beeping when I lock car!
As it's not totally shut is there any potential of opening the bottom gate by squeezing fingers in the gap rather than ripping trim apart inside?

Thanks very much and OH GOD..
I have no idea how I am going to get into the back of the car with a dog cage and load protector that is 2ft high all the way round !.
Just a thought, is the bottom tailgate switch inhibited if the top part is closed?
I was just wondering if it would be possible to activate the lower switch using a stif rod with a bend in the end if pushed in from inside the car and then turned 90 degrees to activate the lower switch.

Followed the guide and ripped the back of my hands to pieces but got it open in the end
Not very happy about using a pop rivet and a choc block to fix a 20k car but it will do for now
Need to have another look in the daylight as something not right, the upper tailgate doesn't close easily (never has done) and you have to shut it very firmly or it bounces back, are they all like this?

Try removing the latch and giving it a good clean, worked for me.
From memory the lower tailgate switch is disabled when the latch is closed.

D3 Tailgate latch failure...
Hi there, I knew someone would have encountered this before and it didn't take long to find the fix details! Can you tell me the procedure to obtain one of these modded replacements please? I've used the forum before as a source of reference but never actually had to make a purchase from a contributor, so am a bit green on the protocol.
Many thanks,
Jim.I'm off to a party with the RNLI tonight. They may not get together very often, but when they do, they certainly know how to push the boat out.

Is it a coincidence that the tailgate fails(A). the night before you`re going away, and (B). when its freezing outside and your garage has a non- runner sitting in the warm , Used DM`s excellent guide only using a couple of 3" flat scrapers to get the carpeted trim out, only option was to use the allen key fix with the addition of some fishing line tracer as an emergency release, but not putting it all back together (just in case) well lasted 4 weeks and has locked up again so assume allen key cable block connector have parted company so will need to contact Geoff for a replacement.
