I've just done this too. very pleased with the outcome. The grazed knuckles were well worth it. And quite frankly, after being stuck in Grimsby for a few drizzly days this was the best entertainment I could find.

Before

After cutting

Snug jack

And I had all these bits left over

Thanks to the original poster for the idea.

Bit of a resurrection but wanted to thank Sacimiddx for taking the time to post his photos and the write-up of this mod. Did mine last weekend following the same cutting lines and the new Sprinter jack now sits perfectly in the cubby with no rattling at all - result!

Thumbs Up

Likewise, thanks for taking the time to write this up. Spent some time with a hacksaw blade and a Stanley knife this morning. All fits great!

Video update

This is a very satisfying upgrade - good balance of being meaningful, cost effective, fast and easy! Here's a video which demonstrates the full process described in this thread. It's interesting to see the scissor jack and bottle jack side by side to evaluate the differences in height and operation, and the video includes a simple way to re-use the factory tool pouch to fit the larger bottle jack handle in the factory location. That only requires removing 1 seam with a thread ripper.

Cheers from Canada!
