Decisions, Decisions .......
cant decide on the GG AT or the Wrangler Duratrac..... Or the Wrangler MTR (if its availlable Yet)
currently running Wrangler HPs and they are Ok but want something for offroad. - I cant be bothered to keep changing the wheels over so want some tyres suitable for road and also very good offroad (40:60)
Ive allways used Cooper Discoverer STs on the D3 but they dont do them in 19inch , or i would go for those.
anyone run the Duratrac and ATs Offroad (proper offroad - not just a bit of mud !!) and which is the best - according to the websites the Durattrac seems the better all round. Duncan

A friend of mine (you met him on the Salisbury Plain trip we did a few years ago) runs Duratec's on his Jeep (heavily modded since you last saw it).
I was with him this weekend on a camping trip in Wales, driving on lanes in Snowdonia and then Strata Florida and around Bala. We had a chat about tyres and he's never had any issues at all with the Duratecs and he's run them since they were first available in the UK, which must be a couple of years now.
Call me or send me a PM if you want to chat to him about them and I'll give you his number. He also only lives about 4 miles from you.
I like that the fact that they have the mountain/snowflake rating. But obviously will be noisier and less fuel efficient than AT's.

is that all tyres or just new tyres - cant find anything on the websites, which is odd given the new noise rating laws or whatever they are. Duncan

Will give the link to tyre labeling very soon, just waiting for all the info.
The New General Mud Terrain in the new 3-Ply Carcass-Construction which we now have in a few sizes are only Q rated and classed as POR which stands for Professional off-road tyre and are not subject to Tyre Labeling.......................................Very nice tyres too.

Mr. AJS 4X4 can you easily get the duratracs in England. Here in Luxembourg and around it seems that they will only be available in November the earliest and I really should replace my actual tires soon. The Duratrac is my first choice so I am looking at all the options.
Thanks.

Goodyear make much of the fact that the Duratracs have been designed to reduce road noise, so maybe not. They're mixed posts here about the noise of the AT's.

Why not have a drive in the Jeep and see what you think? The Jeep is considerably noiser than the D4. So if you can tolerate the tyre noise in that, you'll know the D4 will be quieter.

I'd say that if you tolerated the noise of the ST's the Duratracs wouldn't be much different. But that's a guess.
