Being in the postion to view all these tyres from my huge stock make me smile as I can't quite see or agree with some of this labeling, anyone is free to have a look as it all on the shelf.

And having now driven on the Duratrac I can't agree with this label as I found them more noisy than the General AT over the same bit of dry'ish tarmac yesterday afternoon, not scientific I hear you say but I heard what I heard.

Don't forget we don't only sell 4x4 tyres, some of the Hi-Performance tyres we sell are louder than some MT tyres.

This is going to run and run, but thank god not everyone will worry to much, at the end of the day as I have said many, many times before.......you will always find a tyre that suite's your needs and we are very happy to help if we can. Thumbs Up

I may be wrong (frequently am), but doesn’t the tyre noise rating relate to the noise it makes externally, i.e., as measured roadside with a view to giving an indication of the environmental noise pollution of the tyre?

And this is the bit where I may be wrong again, then surely internal cabin noise due to the tyre, will depend on the vehicle type, size, acoustics of the vehicle, cabin dimensions, suspension type, speed, geometry, condition and probably a whole raft of variables I've overlooked (road type etc.). If the tests were performed under some standard "controlled" conditions, then on any given vehicle the rating for internal noise can only, in my opinion, be an indication of how noisy they maybe rather than how noise they will be for your vehicle.

Not offended if the above is superfluous decibels and I claim no great knowledge of the testing process, so it could all be white noise anyway. Embarassed

Mossy you are correct. The noise reading is recorded externally at a set speed with (iirc) the engine switched off.

But I wonder which size tyre is tested. The widest Duratrac is surely going to be noiser than a taller and narrower one.

Guess that's my point really - that's why I think they give us volume adjustment on our radio for those bad tyre choices Laughing

Thumbs Up

O.K.

Two D3's, one with new Duratrac's and one with new General AT's driven down the same tarmac road with two people in, tested the noise by ear (those things on each side of your face) so not as scientific as the big boys.

We both agreed that windows up or down the General was not as noisy as the Duratrac. Thumbs Up

thats OK then cos Ive had to order ATs Thud

Distributor delivered Wrangler Hp All Weathers instead of the Duratracs, and when the garage tried to reorder the Duratracs they were told there aint non left mate !!

They spoke to Goodyear UK who said 2 available on 23rd Nov to full fill a backorder and after that no date available Confused

so, got 5 GG ATs on order, not many of those around either, these ones are coming down from Scotland !!!

We have plenty of General AT's in stock and just had five more Duratrac's in this morning. Thumbs Up

Sorry they cocked up your order but am sure you will get on with the General AT just as well. Thumbs Up

Makes me laugh that so called tyre suppliers don't have stock of these tyres and when they do get them in they are wrong, this is why maybe my prices are a few pounds more than others but I always have the stock.

You would not get your breath if you knew how much money I have tied up in stock, but as I see it stock is king as no one out there will give me £11.00 for a £10.00 note.

it was the distributor that cocked up, but the AT will do fine - I was going to order those any way until I spotted the Duratracs !!
