Drove back today from Devon to Glos - 150 miles of which 2/3rds is motorway (cruise set set 75) and half the rest hilly dual carriageway. 4 adults and boot full of luggage. Very pleased to get 30.4 according to the computer. Definitely seems like a decent improvement after only using half a tank with 2 stroke added. No noticeable difference to me in noise/smoothness, but frankly I am amazed how quiet, smooth and quick it seems after my TD6.

Hmm, I'm still not convinced! I used a full bottle of two stroke but can't say I noticed any difference in noise or economy. Maybe I need to put a lot more through before it has an effect?
Mine will do 28-30 on a long run anyway

It certainly does not make the mpg worse and the extra smoothness is nice but you really have to see the internals to see the difference between a diet of 2sO and not - it was this than convinced me.
Almost worth it to just reduce the trauma of getting the glow plugs out but the data I was collecting on my D3 in its last year suggested that the 2sO was bringing the injectors back into balance. Indeed, by the time I sold it they were back to 'almost new' readings. Injectors are not cheap…

I used 2 Stroke for 3 months and all I got was a smokey start in a morning and now it has a 'chuckle' when I turn the motor over.

I have been on 2so for about a year (10k). Definitely seems quieter ( seems swmbo keeps trying to trick me by forgetting to add it - I can always tell) but how long will it take to undo 70000 miles of carbon build up. I'm hoping that if I need plugs I'll be better placed to get them out?

Two stroke oil made no difference to my fuel economy over 10k and no noticeable change to engine noise, I'm sure it's good for the engine / fuel system but a little every now and again should work well for that. IMHO it's not worth adding at every fill up IF you ant more MPG or a quieter engine.

Yes that also happened to me - caused lumpy running and smoke on cold starts, stopped adding it and no more smoke and no more lumpiness, as Ruben says, placebo / emperors new clothes
