Is there possibly anything detrimental about using 2SO+Redex cocktail as an additive?
Cheers,
Darren

I pour 2 stroke in then some Redex to wash it down before filling.
More to the point and just pour some in and never measure it

Good evening guys, sorry to come in on this so late and ask probably the first question that was asked! But... So I get this right I need to buy, non synthetic 2 stroke oil, place 5ml per litre in the tank.
What will this do? Is there any damage risk?
Sorry to take you all right back to the start! But don't want to risk doing something daft
Improvements listed sound good. Will it help for an engine that is often at full power, max acceleration?
Thanks for your helpAndy.

@Andy. merry xmas. You are correct,it needs to be NON synthetic, Mineral JASO FD(if you can get it) or Mineral JASO FC @ 5ml per litre. I use Castrol Activo.
to quote another forum member, M3DPO "Two stroke oil is classified as a diesel oil, it could be possible to run a diesel engine on it, when added to diesel it emulsifiers with a chemical action and cannot be identified in the diesel, not like lubrication oil which is purely diluted and will not burn the same as two stroke when it is mixed with diesel, lubricating oil added to diesel will down grade the diesel and should not be added, 2 stroke added to diesel will upgrade it and promote better/cleaner combustion.
When the sulphur content of diesel for derv's (not agricultural) was reduced about 2 years ago to reduce emmissions the lubrication qualities of diesel was dramatically reduced, by adding 2stroke these lubrication qualities are replaced.
Mercedes and Volvo have been adding it for years, particularly in countries where the quality may be suspect."
One member has been adding it for 350,000 without any ill effects apparently?
I hope this helps.

I keep reading on here that Fully Synthetic will not mix with diesel etc, however Semi synthetic is OK. If you go back to when all this started, (Yamaha-Fan on the Freelander 2 Forum) then you will note the ONLY reason she said not to use fully synthetic was the cost.
( Do not use fully synthetic 2-stroke oil, as too expensive, and you do not really need this high quality for your purpose. Semi-synthetic will do)

I had read in another thread about 2SO that synthetic 2SO doe not mix with diesel so it becomes a money wasting exercise. I was in Morrisons yesterday and they are selling 500ml 2SO for £2 a bottle William

If you keep reading the posts he recommends not using synthetic 2-stroke, he also goes on to say it is due to ash content as well.

You have said a couple of times not to use fully synthetic. Is this just because of the price. I have a litre or so and don't want to throw it away
Quote:
Sam, for two reasons:
1. the price
2. if you should have a DPF, the ash content of sythetic 2-T oils is higher, as this oil is ment to burn.

Finally deciding to take the plunge on this - can someone advise whether this is suitable for my 07 D3 which has had the EGR's blanket and a BAS remap and if it is am I correct in saying 300ml per each full tank ?
