Actuator rod
Hello I used this guide http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic80761.html to take off the small heat sheild in section 23 of the guide. you can see 2 of the 10mm nuts that hold it on right hand one above right hand suspension arm link loosen that one remove the other two then you can move the shield to the side. with a torch to see the link I then made a short wire rod as mentioned in other posts sprayed some lube and then moved the rod back and forth to free up. mine was not that bad at the start but still freed up some and I could feel the difference took me half hour all in.

how to get the small heat shield off?
Hello
I am having trouble removing the front bolt off the small heat shield. there is a pipe that is in the way and i can't work out if that needs removing as haven't seen anything regarding this. can someone please advise.

That doesn't look right at all.
You're on the passenger side? Looking at the heat shield just above and behind the wheelDisco gone

Sorry for the delay in coming back, work took over
As stated, that doesn't look right, you should be looking straight at it through the passenger side wheel well.
Here's a video which helped me find it, although the damn thing still hasn't free'd yet
