Interesting looking at the posts.
Lots of failures in early bild 2005 then nothing until recently when early build compressors are failing. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hello
Being new to both this site and the Disco 3 having just bought a 55 reg TDV6 S model, can someone help me?
I have noticed occassionally after parking the vehicle a 'hiss' from the compressor which I believe is located on the nearside under the vehicle. Everything seems to be working normally and wondered if this 'hiss' is normal it does not do it all of the time. I have tried searching the handbook but either cannot find or have missed any reference to it!
Cheers

Hi all,i just had my compressor changed after it failed a month ago.
My D3 is a january 2006 model,SE AUTO,it has 82 000km.
As it is out of warranty a part of the bill is taken by Land Rover (50%) and the other part by warranty extension i took when i bought the car.
It seems everything is ok since.

A lot of the 'compressor failures' i've come across are actually a split in the top of the filter / drier, not an issue under warranty but circa ~£200 difference out of warranty...

lack of fuel in the tank
it's easy to forget that the electronics can't distinguish between the complex (injector failiure) and the obvious (petrol in the diesel - or an empty tank ) it all dependson how 'smart' the system is and where the sensors are placed... a compressor will always show as overheating if its output pipe is venting to atmosphere..... no sensor for that!
Hi guys, my first post, although I have read about 50000 threads on here for advice in the past! Am I right in reading that an empty fuel tank can trigger a 'Suspension Fault' from the ecu? I experienced my first 'Suspension Fault' last week, which funnily enough came on whilst the tank was empty and running on fumes (the wife had had the D3 for a few days and Range showing about 5 miles!).
I'm taking it into a stealer early next week to reset and check any error codes, but want to investigate the cause first. I am in Germany and don't want the Service Dept to play the 'lost in translation' card and get me to authorize other unnecessary work!
Love the site by the way and find it extremely helpful (am also awaiting a double flush and new pan filter to be fitted based on advice on here).

A blown rear brake light or mixing old worn tyres with new (slightly bigger) can trigger a suspension fault.
My compressor finally gave up completely yesterday after gradual deterioration over the last 2 weeks. Now with the dealer and will be replaced on monday.

My D3 went in for a 3-year service today and I mentioned to the dealer that I'd heard the compressor making more noise than normal over the last few days. I picked up the vehicle this afternoon and the dealer advises that the compressor is faulty and needs to be replaced but:
- a new compressor will take 3 weeks to come from the UK to Australia
- if it's not installed before my 3-year warranty expires (on the 25th May), then it won't be covered by warranty
Anyone know what the current situation with compressor stock is ? Should there be a 3-week wait ?
And does the second statement about warranty seem reasonable ? Seems like a crock to me...
thanks
Geoff

I thought that the compressors were still on back order everywhere....if this is true, then it's unlikely to arrive in 3 weeks

This sounds like complete rubbish to me too.
If it fails and is diagnosed as needed to be replaced whilst within the warranty period, then it must be covered. If LR Australia cannot supply the part at the time it's needed, that is their responsibility (or LR themselves) - it is not your fault.
Phone LR customer services and ask them to clarify this point - both with you and with the dealer. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue
