I cleaned the map sensor on my discovery 4 and the car went into limp mode, I called landrover assist who diagnosed faulty map sensor below voltage, so be careful, I cleaned the map sensor on my discovery 3 a few times with no problem at all.

After reading this thread, I just checked mine:
Not too bad I guess, 8.5 years old 78,500 miles, still has both EGR's (left one replaced 18 months ago) as far as I know, no 2sO has been used.
It's now a lot cleaner Cheers, Chris in Cambridge

Hi,
Anybody know the MAP sensor Part Number ? I found LR019130 but I'm not sure about that.
This should be a service check / clean item ?
Or
Is it like many other things (eg gearbox oils) supposed to last the life of the vehicle ?BREXIT - done properly.

Pretty clogged!
Got a P0498 error code today, after diagnose with my Delphi, it told me that it vas EGR in "bank 0". Don't know which side this is? so if someone know i'd be happy if i'm told Then i searched this forum, and found this thread, so i checked my MAP sensor too. Very dirty. The previous owner of the disco has changed the EGR on LH side, so the RH valve have maybe been there since solihull (so think this is bank 0)
My car: MY2009, TDV6 HSE PP, 142 000 Km (89000 miles) one EGR already changed
PS! Thanks for great forum!!

Not too bad.Disco 3 HSE (55) - gone
BMW x3 (62) x30d MSport - current
Cleaned the sensor on my 2010 D4 3.0 TDV6 now done 166000 km. Not looking nice...
Went for a test drive after cleaning, and the difference was quite significant. Car has felt a bit "jumpy" on gear shifts below 50 km/h. Now feels much smoother.
Got a "Service required" message after doing the cleaning. Checked for error codes with my BT IID Tool, but no errors found. Did a service reset with same tool and no more service message. I guess the abrupt change in MAP sensor readings triggered some parameter in the "service request algorithm"(?)
Thanks for the excellent advice!

Are you sure its not due a service and the message was the service reminder ?
Next service should probably be in done within the next 5K km, but seems a bit odd that the message came up right after doing the cleaning and firing up the engine.
Planning to most of the servicing myself going forward now, and did an intermediate oil change w/filter 8K km ago.
Should I worry about this service message?

The service message is a reminder to service your car, it displays a countdown to when it is necessary. If you did a mid service the car wouldn't know unless you reset the service with your IID tool at that point.
