I didn't take a picture of mine before - not noticed any difference to be honest.
But I'll see what happens after Tuesday when I get one/two EGR valves replaced, as my MPG is 25%-35% down compared to last year, when I bought the car Mark.

when wiped it with paper towel some of the gunk got into the hole so I gently used the needle eye to get it all out like you use ear buds in the ear

Now that looks Be interesting to find out what difference OT makes.
to be honest, I'm disappointed...mine is very clean...I was hoping to find it was full of gunk and cleaning it would improve the vehicle...
Took the sensor out and it looks pretty good...

Took mine out earlier, pretty much the same state as DSLs' wiped it clean outside and gave it a good squirt of WD40 down the little hole to clean the inside, good shake out & re-fit -
