After reading this thread and wanting to "do stuff" myself I had a go at this.
I have a 2005 Auto SE with 64k on the clock:-
Not as bad as some of the posts here but what do you think?
Cleaner
I think I could have got it cleaner but this was my first go and I was unsure how to disconnect the sensor. I will have another go in a couple of days.regards

So far I have not perceived any change from doing this other than the fact that the All Fuel reading went from 21.5 before the clean to 21.7 after.
Need to do a bit of a run to see if that changes.
Can anyone advise if a "restore to factory settings" on the trip meter be a good or bad thing to do please?regards

I cleaned mine a month ago by repeatedly soaking in de greaser and tapping gently on the bench to get the crud out from inside. I instantly noticed it was more resposive and a tank of feul later ive gained 1mpg. Ive always had a steady 26 now its a steady 27 but better still has helped reduce the kangaroo problem manuals suffer from !craig.

Evening gents
Just thought I would re ask the question as it was not answered on a previous post in this section.
Has any one done the full strip down of the induction system, to clean out the manifold, hoses, etc
I would of thought this would further increase MPG, response, etc as it did on my 300tdi.
I would of thought that given the state of some of the MAP the rest of the induction system would be just as bunged up, resulting in very little change by just cleaning the element mentioned.
My reason of thinking is this- although the MAP reads a curtain air pressure, this does not necessarily mean the combustion chambers are getting this amount if the induction system is clogged (reduced volume), as the MAP element is prior to the manifold- correct
So in theory the sensor thinks the cars getting enough air/ oxygen, but in reality it's not.
I stand by to be corrected/ educated as my thought process is that based on older engines.
If there is a write up by a member who has done the full strip down, it would be good to see and hear the results

I thought I read on here or maybe the Sport forum, that you could buy the housing (manifold) complete with the sensor cheaper than just the sensorIn Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar

It was certainly the case a couple of years ago but with LR's elastic parts pricing Nick would need to check again. The intake is just a meccano set and easily cleaned. I took mine apart when I binned the EGR stub pipes to clean it all out. Of course, the V8 owners become quite accustomed to cleaning their intake and throttle.

I cleaned mine this morning for the second time, first time was previously in this post about two years ago ?
Although I noticed a crisper pick up initially two years ago along with slightly better MPG and a better throttle response this time I noticed diddly squat !
There wasn't the carbon build up that there was before and the hole was visible where as before it was caked over.
I've been using 2T for the past 20K so maybe that's help keep it clean ?
I was looking forward to de funking it and getting a crisper pick up ?

Nice idea, in theory, but the manifolds are part of the cam cover, so is a fairly major stripdown to remove. The complete oppostie to a 300TDi
In addition to that, there is also a long inlet tract through the head itself, which would be impossible to clean without the heads being removedMy D3 Build Thread

Hi gents,
Thanks for the replies, I managed to get the landrover workshop manual (thanks to the forum), and can now see what an epic task this would be. Feel a bit silly now for asking the question
But it still leaves the fact that if the MAP sensor is so filthy, surely every thing after it must be to , which won't help MPG, Responce, etc.
After doing the 300tdi, I would hate to think what's in the tdv6, my tdi manifold was nearly closed and took a hell of a lot of scraping, scrubbing, soaking and jet washing. So I don't suppose there's any cleaners such as wyns, that would improve any thing.
I guess it's a case of suck it up, clean the MAP and that be it, FOR NOW . I've never liked the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it", I prefer to break it so I know how to fix it next time
Thanks gents
The information is much appreciated

Hi tony,
Yes it is the 2 stroke oil put in the fuel tank trick.
I've only used it on the 300tdi but it worked wonders, the noise from the engine reduced drastically within 10 miles, Responce was better, and a lot of cr ap got cleared out of the fuel system and caught in the sediment filter. I had to change it 3 times in a week before it ran clear.
Bear in mind though that the 300 had only ever be poodled around, and stood for a year or there a bouts before I got it?
Not sure about more modern engines , but I remember some gents on hear trying it.
It must be (from memory) low ash full mineral oil which is usually red. You must read the label though as I think there's a green one available now also.
A point to note though, I always carry the pot with me, as the police around my area love dip testing. The slightest hint of red in the fuel and they won't take any excuses.
Others more familiar/ knowledgable will be along to point you in the right direction I'm sure
Hope this helps

I forgot to mention quantities,
For my self, I used 500ml in 30 ltrs of diesel, not the best of ideas but it did what I wanted it to do.
Now I use 500ml split between 2 tank fulls of 80 ltrs diesel.
200/1 is what I have seen banded about quite a lot but again some one with more knowledge will help no doubt

200/1 is correct
Or 400ml per full tank in a D3
Is must be JASO FC, + Semi Synthetic. IIRC, JASO FD is Fully Synth, and does not mix very well with the diesel.
I run in it my Disco, the wifes Toyota, and my van. The van was just MOT'd a few days ago, and when I collected it, the tester commented on how clean its emissions were My D3 Build Thread
