Cleaned mine yesterday wasn't to bad but seems to have made a big difference, seems much more responsive.Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Cleaned mine last week, it was dirty and the hole was blocked. I've had the car about 5 weeks and I have been getting 20 mpg around town. This past week I've been getting a gnats knacker under 24 mpg. That's certainly a huge improvement for a 5 minute job.

Cleaned my MAP sensor!
Thanks Guys!
This forum contains a wealth of info.
Was driving behind my D3 in my D1 the other day and noticed the "dumping" of black smoke every time the car accelerated.
Decided it was time to check the map sensor after 120 000 km. Here's what I found:
Gave it a good clean with DWF (all I had) plus I had to scrape off the hard crusted carbon on the outside of sensor hole.
Because it is a MY08, the EGR is not blanked off and the cat is still in place - next on my list to remove!
Will see what difference it makes.Saltman: One foot in Land Rover Land, the other in Africa with the delicate bits in the salty seawater!

Thanks Robbie ... he he he ... courtesy of a 5D Mk III with a 24-70 mm F2.8, even though it was evening and had to use flash - hence the not so stable background!
Man that sensor was dirty!!!
Now looking forward to see if there is a difference in responsiveness and more importantly, fuel consumption!Saltman: One foot in Land Rover Land, the other in Africa with the delicate bits in the salty seawater!

Hi Fellas
How do you clean it, do you clean inside the little hole? some guys here have mentioned spraying with WD47..is that direct sprayed into the whole on the unit?
Cheers

I lightly sprayed WD40 in directly...then soaked/cleaned it out with a very soft bit of tissue.....there is a diaphragm in there so be very careful and don't go poking about with anything sharp "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Really you want to be using something that leaves no residue. Carb cleaner, brake cleaner or the best of all electronic contact cleaner.

Nice one.

Brake and clutch cleaner will do the job, I used WD-40 last week and had the Christmas tree effect on the dash with all the suspension warnings going crazy. I was a bit as I'd only changed the oil and filter. Then realised I'd cleaned the MAP sensor. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

I've just today cleaned this thing. It's rather difficult to do.....
First impressions: slightly less laggy on takeoff and going uphill it's slightly less wheezy.

ok, with a bit of a mixture of driving since the clean and I'm doing about 12l/100km (23.5mpg).
That is reasonable considering I live on a hill and I believe the D3 more than compensates when returning home for what it saves going down the hill to get out.......Discovery 3 Manual as PDF | Blackvue 500 | BAS Remap | Mates did South America in a Landie

175k kms on mine and I cleaned it a couple of weeks ago. Sorry no pictures but mine was a bit gunky but the hole was still clear and open. Cleaned it with some aerosol carb cleaner and a paper towel and it cleaned up easily.
I didn't notice any difference to performance or mileage from before.
