I checked my sensor at weekend. I was going to post a photo, but it looks just like the cleaned up version posted above by nodosh Mine has done 102k miles, mostly long motorway, had EGRs blanked and started using 2t at 98k, BAS remap at 99k. No idea if it was always clean or if new dose of TLC over last few thousand miles is paying off.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

I have just done the same route to the Czech Republic today that I did earl ire this year and my fuel consumption earlier in the year was 30.1 and this trip was 33.7mpg.
Did 545 miles on one tank before filling up and could have got to 600 if I had been brave. Current tank is a total of over 600 as well.
Will check sensor when I get home in another thousand miles to check it and see what if anything has happened.

Just cleaned mine from this mess.....

Cnetre hole was completely blocked. Cleaned with Meths, Holts aerosol window cleaner for the hole and white spirit. Took it for a drive and seems much smoother in delivery of power and seems to accelerate more quickly. Will see if the other half notices anything different as a control to offset my elation driven expectations at finding something easy to fix on a D3. EGR's not blanked as far as I know (how can you tell if this has been done?) I don't add anything to the tank, 2 stroke or injector cleaner.

Take a look here. If you have the bits in yellow, you don't have them fully blanked. http://bellautoservices.co.uk/products/lan...nking-kit/2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
Have cleaned my MAP sensor following the instructions in this post - yet another Disco3 top tip
Will have to wait and see for the long term results, however seem to have a bit more black smoke with the throttle hard down now...?
Slightly off topic, had a BAS EGR blanking kit delivered today, so something to occupy me at some point over the weekend 55 Plate TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey, Cool Box, D4 Bluetooth, Side Steps, BAS EGR Blanking, V8 Discs, Polybush Dynamics, SNOTM, Three Flash Indicators, HIDS4U LED Sidelights, Replacement Clock Spring, TSL, Auto Box Flush + Dr. Tranny, BAS Remap IIDTool V2.18

Going to be cleaning this tomorrow. Already has the EGR's blanked but shall be interesting to see what condition this is in.In loving memory of FA54WSK.
my D3 126k - new to me so prev owner may have cleaned MAP sensor but mine fairly clean. Light coating of oil though started putting 2sO in fuel recently (2 fillups so far).
Incidentally as i'm a newby, how do i visually check if the EGR valves are blanked - i dont know what im looking for in the engine bay.

But really how often is one supposed to clean the MAP sensor? I noticed that after cleaning them milage improved but after 2 tanks full of running around, the milage was back to its previous reading? Or is it something i am not doing right!

Lots on this car to rob you of fuel consumption when they don't play properly. I've checked mine a couple of times and totally clean as have EGR blanked. Will check again, if I remember.

I was tracing a smoke problem (which I think is caused by the shortest hose between the turbo and the intercooler pipes - at least there is a bit of oil in that area)
and just checked my MAP after blanking EGR's in December 2008 and running a bit of 2sO in between.
