remarkably... I was doing 70 at the time on a deserted stretch of dual carriageway.......just slowed down for a scamera.....It was at that point I decided to reset the av.mpg.....noticed it instantly showed 78mpg......I grabbed, err I mean the wife, grabbed the phone and it wasn't till later when I looked at the pic that I saw what it was actually reading......I didn't know it went that high.... 8)"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Map sensor or Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor is a sensor in the air intake manifold.

This was mine.
Very easy - I didn't do it, but I did make Mr Muck a brew whilst he toiled for 5 mins.
50k miles, EGRs blanked and runs on V-power diesel.
And no, that is not my hand.

Did mine today
wasnt too bad hole was unblocked but managed to flush some crud out with DD40 and rolled up bog-roll (thinly)
now it could just be my imagination, but pulling away through the gears seems a tad smoother and makes good progress

Brian....squirt WD40 in the hole and roll up some soft toilet roll...stick it gently in the hole and repeat till it comes out clean and dry..its fine.....
There is a diaphragm in there that can be damaged by shoving something hard or sharp in the hole but careful use of tissue paper should be fine"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

To be honest the difference between before(completly blocked) and after (you can actually see the hole) i will leave it for the moment, will give it another look in a couple of weeks.
I think i might also have an EGR on the way out as i seem to get a lot of smoke from the right side exhaust intermtantly
Will wait and see, then give Bell Auto's a call

I did mine today, only took 15 mins. Quite a lot of muk on it but the sensor hole seemed pretty clear. Haven't had a chance to try it to see if there's any difference but it can't have done any harm.

Hmm, that's where the last 2 years fuel consumption went!
Yep, same as others, found very clogged sensor. Cleaned with rag, seemed to see an immediate improvement in pull away from a standstill, like someone took 100 bricks and 3 bags of sand out of the boot!

Very angry LR dealer did not clean or replace when both EGR valves failed a year ago, cost a fortune in MPG since then I reckon!
At least Disco3 to the rescue again

Geez those MAP sensors look horrible.
Ive just carbon cleaned my engine intake (see my thread on P132B error code - sticking VVT turbo actuator).
When the boys come back with my van in a few hrs with my TORX fittings ill have a look at mine. Would definetly rob power and use more fuel with the sensor like this.
EDIT: There was abit of residue there but not as bad as some.
Hope there will be some nice economy out of the D3 soon, and a lift in power wont go astray.
I think i need to purchase some EGR blanking plates, and I may as well get the intercooler silicone hose also.
