No placebo effect on my car, definite big improvement on back to back drive with clean in the middle. Before clean it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding acceleration wise, after clean it's acceleration was back to normal. Also on way up from Surrey to Carlisle (gunky) got 25.7mpg actual, same trip south display showing 33.7mpg on the trip so prob 31mpg actual. Both trips had car loaded up and same speed on CC. No other change apart from cleaned MAP thingie.

That is good news I hope it has the same effect for me, I've been driving like a granny for weeks now and only getting about 28mpg. So could really do with a few extra mpg so that I can waste it occasionally

Unfortunately my mpg dropped off a cliff last October. Was getting sub 20mpg when sitting at 70 on a long haul, 25mpg at 60. These figures should be 27/31 (at worst) so deffo a problem with a fairly standard trim car. Also the get up & go was gone, overtaking was a nightmare as there was dire acceleration and it could shut down at full throttle (different problem and hopefully fixed). All that on top of a goosed turbo!

Just checked yesterday and yep, 36k miles 58 plate and it was covered. Not as badly coked up as some pictures, but not in the bottom half.
Cleaned up and I'd say smoother, and a little more responsive, but nothing really noticeable.
Done a run today, and 70 down the motorway from Holmfirth to Chester and getting 33 by computer.RLD CB Bracket

Like I said DSL this is not just an LR thing, my 57 plate Transit's MAP sensor was just as bad after only about 17k and that was after a new one was fitted due to failiure!

Law of unintended consequences. Or who cares, it'll keep service departments & LR (or any other manufacturer) Parts in the manner they are accustomed to.

Yep, that and EGR's the Transit is also on its third one of them, last changed at 30K!!
1) LR wouldn't fit these things if the EU chimps didn't demand we have them
2) I have your new MAP sensor in the car. See you next Friday I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Good stuff re sensor thingie.
But if the EU makes them fit them they need maintenance or some sort of cleaning/replacement routine rather than being left in there til they all fail and dealers are stabbing around in the dark when customer complains if low mpg & performance, as I've done on several dealer visits! A stitch in time etc.
Cleaned out MAP, it was pretty gunky, took it out for a run yesterday to Coventry and today to Boston Lincs just over 400 miles....... My fuel consumption, I know the comp can tell lies but still not bad me thinks:

Might have helped your mpg but look at the warning lights!!
How would that have compared with what the trip would have said prior to cleanup?

Just on the offchance that this problem might have carried over to the D4 range, I've just checked mine and it was just lighly smeared with black oil. I've done 18000 miles of mixed motoring. I used a cotton bud to clean the barrel and it didn't attract much in the way of oil from inside.
