Mmm, ive cleaned mine and blanked the EGRs - still only got avg 24mpg on a 200mile trip yesterday. mostly motorway and travelling at 70-80.
i did keep getting this buzzing sound though. thought it might be something to do with me blanking off the EGRs Duncan

Well, in 150 miles or so I did notice a slightly better throttle response and improved fuel consumption of about 0.7 lt/100km but then again I did drive like a granny (following fuel economy techniques on here, keeping the revs to a max of 2000rpm).

I've posted once when I cleaned the sensor so in fear of repeating an already posted comment I will add that after driving from Yorkshire to London village this weekend my fuel consumption has increased from 32:something to 36:something!
It's a manual and I drive like a granny too !
Throttle response and drivability are improved
As is off the throttle engine braking / backing off ?
There I repeated myself !
I just thought that this is too good an opportunity to miss out on
If you are reading this like I did and thinking what are they on about ?
Go do this and see for yourself !

Quick update.....cleaned mine at the weekend (including interior clean with WD40)...moderately gunked,non-blanked EGR's
Took it out today and engine flexibility is certainly improved......steep hill where I have to start in 1st and sometimes don't get into 2nd till the top...changed half way up and it easily pulled in 2nd
Quickish 55 mph incline where I would normally have to change down to 5th,it pulled effortlessly in 6th...
There is a marked improvement in the lower rev range/under load.
Have to say I didn't see much change in her binge drinking tendencies though, but as I said, mine wasn't as bad as some of the pictures on here "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Downhill!!
But this was last June for 315 miles on motorway at 60mph. Genuine figure for the trip but in reality was 35.something!
Bloomin' 'ell, just popped to the shops and it did feel a lot smoother to drive in the lower rev range. Will keep an eye on mpg.
Glorious day so maybe because it wasn't cold

This was mine, not noticed a massive difference, but there could well be a placebo effect?
