When GTR (now Topix) was first released, LR said the body had to come off to change it
Then, it was changed so that only the gearbox had to come out...
Now, apparently it can be done with the body and g/box in place, but never done one like that, and wouldnt really like to attempt it either My D3 Build Thread

Ive done 2 now, they are and please excuse my french, a real fooker.
If i were ever mad eniough to do one again id either take the body off or the gearbox out for sure, they are no fun at all to do.
A tip, while your their change the gearbox wireing loom as in some cases a split pipe can damage the loom due to the way its routed and cause problems. They are about 90 quid.
If you do take the body off or box out you may as well do the rear timing belt while your their also.

I know the exhaust has to keep close to the body, but who on earth designed that pipe there wants shooting.
Pete is it much of a job to take the gearbox out of these, does the torque converter come with the gearbox when it comes out???

Hi
Thr pipe is expencive and ive not seen a copy pipe available, try TLO / Yoevil Landrover on the forum for the pipe he will do you the best idea.
If it were a Manual id take the box out still not a nice job.
But since yours is an Auto id do the body "just my Choice", again not nice and very time consuming.
Im not sure of the time to be honest as some garages have got body offs to a T and can cut times where as some people have only done a few body offs so would take longer.
Both the ones ive done have been manaul, and both were non customer cars so time was not measured.
Its going to be off the road a day or two thats for sure.

It does look like a
The cross over pipe going from the RH exhaust manifold to the the LH manifold , rear of the engine and accross the top of the transmission bell housing
