Hi Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mark, I’m originally from Southampton but I have just moved the Family over to Spain a Month ago.
I’ve just brought our first Disco 3 here as our family motor, it’s a 2009 SE Model, 1 owner and a good amount of service history. Its been a massive challenge buying a Disco here. In Spain, service history isn’t a big deal like it is back in the UK, and 150K+Miles here is normal. So finding a good truck that you can see has been looked after and serviced when it should have has been a real challenge. Oh and the price….. Its cost me a good 5K more here in Spain than I would have expected to pay in the UK, However, cars here do hold there price better.
We did look at a lovely 2007 with only 35K genuine miles on the clock, but having had 4 owners and such little millage didn’t sit right with me. I don’t think it does these cars any good just sitting around.
I’ve always wanted a Disco 3 and now we have the need for a decent sized 7-seater that was all the excuse I needed. I tried to be sensible and tested an XC90 first, but there was no way I could live with the poor turning Circle.
Whilst the Disco performed well on the 45 Minute test Drive, on the long drive back it showed its true colours with an array of error messages and the suspension dropping and the car going into limp home about two hours into the journey. Of course, the display is all in Spanish, so it’s been a challenge to figure out what’s going on. I’m in touch with the dealer we brought it from, let's hope they agree to fix it without too much aggro.
Many Thanks,
Mark.

New to Discovery 3s
Hi Martin,
I noticed this site on a window sticker! I drive a 2001 TD5 110 Defender and have always been a Land Rover man. I have discided this year, to change my Defender for a Discovery 3. I drove the V8 D3 in the army in 2005 and always thought it a wonderful car. They seem to represent great value too. So I’m dipping a toe in the water. Unusually for me, I have decided to do my homework (hence joining this site!) rather than just rushing out and buying the first one I see!! I’ve been drooling over the G4 disco currently on eBay but can’t stretch to it, so my plan is to find the best V8 d3 in my price range and slowly kit it out to G4 standards, minus the orange (which I love but I don’t want a replica.) I’m looking forward to getting some helpful advise from your members.
Many thanks!
Andy

Hello, I'm Tom and have just bought a D3 manual after 6 months defender ownership and having owned a D2 and a couple of hippos as well.
It's a 2006 TDV6 S manual with 153000 miles. Family hack for my 2 young sons and their bikes, the dog and a caravan!
Tackling both front hubs replacement this weekend as nearside bearing was grumbling, rounded bolt heads stopped play today. I have a plan....
Need to look at gearbox breather and have diagnosed upper tailgate actuator to be faulty so one of those on order.
Was pointed to this forum by a D3 magician on another well know landy forum, I've browsed as a guest a lot this week so decided to sign up as can see it's a good resource.
Hope I can add to the constructive comments on here and thanks for having me

Hi all,
I'm a new to this site so forgive me if I get things a bit wrong in the format. I live in Glasgow and have had a Defender 110, Defender 90 and a Disco 2 and am looking for a 3 which I hope will be less "agricultural" to drive than the previous stable, must be getting older! Used the Defenders to travel the continent a lot which was great but a bit expensive on the fuel.
I see you have occasional meets in Central Scotland and would be keen to come along.
Looking forward to using the site and the chat.
Hillfoot.

Hi All,
New to this site and relatively new to disco 3 ownership.
I found the forum through discovery 3 and 4 facebook group which i found very helpfull. I hope to do a few changes and upgrades to this discovery and the wealth of information between the 2 have been great in helping me decide what parts to go with.
We mainly use the disco for ferrying our kids around, camping holidays, and possibly towing a caravan in the future once the towbar recall has been done. I hope to start doing some offroad stuff joining 4x4 club etc soon once i get it in shape.
Its so far been good to us and as i own a garage i think it should be relatively easy enough to keep in good health and with a few mods/upgrades should do its job well for some time to come.

Welcome.
A few kind suggestions:
- edit your profile and set the vehicle type, you’ll get more accurate advise if you need it
- learn to use search, a lot of issues you might experience with your vehicle have been experienced previously by someone else
- have fun with it
